I might not hit the “post thread” button. I might not spell enough words correctly to make sense. I am certainly on my second glass of wine…..
I woke up hungry. You know those days, you just feel need to eat straight away. As many of you know, our daughter is profoundly disabled, and today she was due to go to her day centre. I decided to wait until she had left and make some egg muffins. Her carer arrived around 7:30, and quite quickly it became apparent all was not well: Kerrianne appeared to be having startle seizures, one of the many forms of epilepsy she has, but hasn’t had for a number of years. A conflab ensued and the day centre was contacted. She won’t be attending today!
Due to various things this dragged on with the carer until 9:45, then at 9:55 a fella turned up to do a habitation check on our camper ready for Le Mans next month. Just over an hour after he arrived Karen took Kerrianne to a doctors appointment as she was worried. An hour or so later I got a call: They had been sent to A&E with a suspected broken bone!?
How she could break a bone when she can’t sit, stand or move was a mystery, but the Doc was convinced!
I then had a tortuous hour and a bit waiting for the camper inspection to finish before hot-footing it to the hospital.
When I got there at about 2pm they were taking blood with repeated finger pricks. Kerrianne’s veins don’t work well and this is the best way to get anything from her, frankly, it os horrific to watch as they have to do so many to get enough blood for testing. She then went off for some x-rays, again very difficult as she has no concept of “don’t move”.
After a few hours all the tests show nothing? She has extreme oain in her right knee, but for reason or reasons unknown.
We were sent home.
I went ahead to buy all her favourite things for tea, but even before I got back I got a call. Her wheelchair car had broken down! I tried to start our people carrier, but that was dead (we rarely use it) so had to go in the mini. Karen won’t let me take her on the quad?
We awaited a tow truck, hoiked her into the front of the mini, and then went home.
I was duly sent to the supermarket at around 5:30 ish. I still hadn’t had breakfast and it didn’t go well.
Never go shopping when you are hungry!
I had a cheese starter, jelly baby main course and wine for dessert. Kerrianne is still crying despite all the calamari and chocolate I could push into her face, and Karen is gently rocking in the corner.
I’m sorry of this is oversharing, but the only other person I have to tell already knows
Is it Friday yet?
