Hi Everyone,
I have a problem with my HW100 shot count. I have replaced all the seals in the gun, And have just bought a new lightweight cylinder from Rat Works. I thought that i would have an increased shot count with all that being done but no. I used to get n4 or 5 magazines from a 200 bar fill but now i get 2 magazines, or 28 shots going from 200 bar down to 100. After that my shots start dropping going from 100 to almost zero with another 21 shots. Do you have any ideas what has gone wrong please.
I hope this is the correct place for this question.
Thank you
Lord Peter

not been done quite right i suspect bud

have you set the reg?, hammer spring?...................
Hi Doc,
no i haven't checked that, but that might account for the air noise when i fired it, it was just like a hissing noise, which wasn't there before. The main question is how do i adjust it?

You still have a leak I suspect, however small. When my rifle was on song I know I was getting 50 shots from a fill, K model.

There is a mark on the gauge of my cylinder suggesting I stop at 100 bar. Why do you carry on shooting below that point?

Hi Andy,
i keep shooting because I enjoy it, also i know that all i need to do is just raise my aim point a bit. But 3 weeks ago i got 4 magazines out of one tank before i got to 100bar. i did also have another problem with it, in that sometimes it would not fire as if there was not enough air. I just pointed the gun into the air and then cocked the gun again and it was fine, and fired perfectly.

I would keep shooting mine but I never go below the low point as there doesn't seem much point if the regulator isn't then working efficiently.

Where is "us" doc?

Strewth, there is something seriously awry with your HW100.
I have two of these excellent rifles. They both give ten mags (140 shots) on a 200 Bar fill.

You should be getting four and a half to five mags on a charge.

If you’ve completed a full O ring change and not touched the hammer adjustment it’s likely to be the regulator setting. Did you alter the reg setting and if so what did you set it at.

If it’s not leaking (check the breech on firing) then it’s likely to be the settings.

Hi Doc,
i think we found it. When we did the strip down we put the barrel into the block first, so the valve part was seated in correctly also the magazines would not go correctly. The only way to fit the magazines in, was to slacken the bolts holding the 2 parts of the block together. they have both been fixed now. The hammer spring has been adjusted and chrono graphed to 11.4. The next test now will be next Wednesday when i go to the shooting range.

Hi,
how do you get ten mags through, do you have the normal bottle or a larger one. as i have been told that i should get about 60 to 70 shots from a full tank.

In .177 that is correct. I get around the low 60 mark with mine, as Blackmax indicates as being normal.

No, mine has the Ratworks cylinder and in and of itself it does not increase shot count in any appreciable amount. You need to upgrade the reg to enable a 250 bar fill, which then increases the shot count. Ditto the HW100 Tuning titanium cylinder. No reg upgrade, no more shots.

Also, there is a difference between .177 shot count and .22, and a carbine (K) and a full length, being higher in both of the latter instances.

In short, highest shot count will be from a full length rifle in .22 calibre, with an upgraded reg to allow 250 bar in the cylinder.

right, sort of right problem / issue, but the wrong solution.!!

if you put the barrel in first, tighten the locking screw, it will push the barrel further into the block than is needed, this will then stop the firing valve block fitting flush with the housing. You need to remove the barrel, separate the two parts of the block, now tighten the bolts that hold the firing valve block / body into the main block, now reassemble, and lastly fit the barrel and tighten the retaining screw.

Hi Doc,
.... We have done a lot of testing after putting everything back together, and i am now getting 6 magazine from it and only going down by 50%. The other problem i have is that the trigger assembly sear pin keeps coming out. I have checked my mates 5 guns, and his all have a plate that fits over the top of the unit and down the sides to hold the sear pin in, as at the moment it was held in by araldite curtesy of the shop where i bought the gun initially. I asked the guy in the gun shop, why mine did not have one and he told me that it was an old gun and they didn't make any for that gun. i tried the plate from one of my mates guns and it would not fit, it looks like the trigger assembly unit on my gun is a bit wider. Do you have any ideas on his, i think my gun was made in 2013. I would check it out but i have a chest infection at the moment and my gun is at my mates house.

Full length rifle.
.177 cal.
Perfectly set up and running at about 11.3ft.lbs.

The carbine will give a lower shot count.
Hi,
the gun is now sorted, it was all down to the block as you said. I am now getting 7 mags for just 50% which is so much better than my meagre 2 mags. How long it will last is another thing.
Thank you for the help, after we looked at the unit and did what you said it fixed it straight away.

Hi,
All sorted now, it was the valve assembly unit that was causing the problem. We had put the barrel in first after the strip down, and the valve assembly afterward which forced the unit out, this meant that the magazine would not fit correctly.
I wanted to find out where you bought the reg from and how much it cost please.
Peter
