Hi Im looking for a valuation on a Webley Eclipse, with scope, its in .177, shoots nice, its not had much use, its sat for years in my in laws conservatory and moisture has got to the barrel , everywhere else looks ok but id say a reblue is needed.

Any ideas on value?

Hi Paul had thought of that but wasnt sure if it would work at this extent, ive not the time to re-do bluing/stock but good call will try thanks

They are classic rifles in my humble opinion and underrated shooters. Having the complete set of sights would boost the value as they are rare. I agree with @Airgun_Recoil, 0000 wire wool and gun oil (or 3in1) will shift a lot of that rust. The main tube is alloy don't forget. If I had the cash I'd have your arm off for £200 even though it needs money spending on it. If it doesn't sell for that, keep hold of it because they aren't going to get cheaper. (y)

Thanks for the info, it certainly feels quality this model, had a vulcan and a tempest as a kid, did enjoy the Webleys

Mk2 - slightly more desirable
.177 - bit rarer
Full length - bit rarer

Dunno if rarer means any more desirable

I have two Eclipses, both in very very good condition
Both .22
Both carbines
Both with open sights
Only one cost more than £200

Try a green plastic pan scrubber, used ones are best, with oil, it's less likely to damage the rifling, works well on light rust like that.

Crikey! The ones I've used are a bit coarse for that... 😱

😱 your all barbarians wire wool and pan scourers
It’s only the softest cloth and finest oils that get to touch my bluing and stocks.
I get it but I would be too chicken to try 😂

I just use newspaper with oil on, a few rubs then fold it over to a new clean bit, otherwise the rust now in the paper is just being rubbed all over it.

Was it Welsh Willy ( Will G) who said a bluing plush that restores and cleans bluing really well?

It's not a rifle that's ever appealed but I'd snatch it up for 200 . Especially in .177 .Id go a little higher personally .I think 260 posted and see how you go .

Thanks for the replies , took it all into account will be using the wire wool checking barrel and popping up for sale on here the weekend
