Hi All

Looking for a decent winter coat but tbh not sure where or who does decent stuff.

Had a look at the Harkila stuff but quite expensive, but willing to spend on a hard-wearing quality coat.

Not sure if I want a jacket or something longer so decent brands rather than specific coats so I can make a decision.

Cheers

Lee

I would wear this everywhere during cold days, but the wife wouldn’t let me.

It’s like wearing a water resistant sleeping bag😊

+1 on the ridgeline stuff, I also own a couple of impressive Deerhunter jackets as well as some Army surplus stuff.
However I feel I’ve moved to another level of weather protection, comfort and practicality with my Paramo Halcon that I use for dog walking and obviously shooting. It’s in a different league👍

Seeland is also made by Harkila but unsure how good coats are but wellies are bob on, got a Harkila pro hunter x coat and it will last decades but pricey.

Got myself a decent coat out of decathlon (solognac) last year*, best winter coat I have ever had.

* In their sale☺️.

I've just picked up a Barbour Bedale wax cotton coat from Cheshire Oaks
RRP was £229 I paid £152
It's ideal for every day wear or shooting, dog walking etc and I expect it to last years

I have Ridge line gear and Barbour and both are excellent, if you are wanting to shoot / roll about in the mud go ridge line

Snugpak does a nice waterproof jacket called the torrent at about £150 but does come down in price from time to time.

I have a Deerhunter Alamti jacket, really warm as it is but I can also zip a fleece into it.
Look for last season stock as usually cheaper.

Barbour is still my hunting/outdoor coat. Lots of big pockets, waterproof and warm, 10+ years now.

Sealand hunting jacket, warm, thumb cuffs, braces for skinning/gutting, pockets galore, oh and waterproof
