As per the title Venom Vantage / Ken Turner. This late 80’s rifle has a Ken Turner brass moderator / barrel latch. I guess that the brass is not so much to more modern tastes, but for me is an important snapshot of the 80’s. Besides I now think that it is quite rare and also complements the Orange tiger stripes of the stock. We seemed to have much better wood those days!

The rifle has had an amazing life it was an important part of my friends Venom collection in America. However, we managed to do a trade that was good for both of us and this resulted in a repatriation.

My combo took a long time to get right in my eyes. It’s in .177 cal and I again wanted to do it justice. Eventually, I finally managed to get a Hertel and Reuss 80’s period scope that Venom sold back in the day. I think this glass is as good as it gets and harder to get hold of than the rifles themselves. This one is 2.5 - 10 x 46mm and a 30mm tube. Next challenge was 30mm steel Hilver mounts to do the combo justice…. eventually I sourced some which was a significant challenge.

When I got the rifle it was only doing around 7ft lbs. I’ve had it serviced and it’s up to full power and shoots very smoothly. I wondered what tune it had? it’s not a Lazaglide but work had been done as it’s not standard I was advised.

Now the rifle is an important part of my Venom collection and I hope that I’ve given an insight into how difficult it can be to not only acquire a rifle, but source the extras including the Venom custom bag to get it right. Sometimes I think I must be completely mad!

I love a period correct rig which in this instance was only possible due to your passion and attention to detail.
Must be great pride in ownership being a custodian of such a piece.
