Sorry if this has been covered before, but a search came up with nothing.

HW97K. I've cocked it and put a pellet in the barrel, but not shot it (fed up waiting for the rat). Safety at the moment is on. Can I uncock it by pulling the cocking arm all the way down holding it there, then knock the safety off and pull the trigger back keeping firm hold on the cocking arm and then slowly release the spring load? Could do this on my Airsporters, or break barrels, but doesn't seem to work on this?

Just shoot it into a pond or into the ground - usual safety checks, obviously.

EDIT - Or a paperback book?

A box stuffed with rags will stop anything under 12 fpe at least.

There are plenty of safe ways to discharge your pellet.

If its like my Weihrauch break barrels, then no, once cocked you've got to fire it.
I cant remember but i'm sure you can press the safety in and keep it pressed in , pull the barrel down then pull the trigger to decock it but I could be wrong .My HW80 does not have a safety so I can't try it .

Only if the anti bear trap has been removed
what he said....👊🏻🐼👍🏻Fire into the ground.

Bear trap removed!

If you remove the beartrap, don't forget to remove the washer in the slide and place it over the thread of the stock locating plug before refitting it, sometimes they're loose and just come out but I've seen a couple which were a tight fit in the slide and appeared to be part of it.
One problem with decocking the 77 and 97 is that they're quite prone to dieseling on the next shot, potentially sending the shot a bit high.
