Hi Guys.
I am thinking about buying a new or used Umarex Smith & Wesson M29 Revolver with the 3" Barrel, I want to ask if anybody has used one, If so are they realistic, and how do they fire, I would like the Pellet/Steel BB version, also can they be fitted with real Pachmyr Grips ? also is the finish good or does it dull after a while.
Thanks Guys.

I’ve just picked up the 6” blued M29 and like it a lot. In the hand it feels very close in fit feel and heft.
Pointing it down range it’s pretty indistinguishable from the real thing. There are differences such as the cylinder and the pinned barrel but you could happily use one as a trainer for the real thing. A lot of fun, I’d recommend scratching the itch! Not sure on the grips - I have some pachmyr but they’re on my Taurus and not sure they’d be the same for the S&W. The blueing is nice and looks like it’ll hold up but only time will tell.

I have a 6.5 inch and 3 inch Model 29 (both smoothbore).

In terms of your questions, to the best of my knowledge S&W didn't offer a production 3 inch barrel Model 29, but I think they did short run specials in that length.

Mine shoot quite nicely with pellets, the short sight radius of the 3 inch does mean you need to put a bit more effort in to get the best from it over the 6.5 inch.

No, these cannot be fitted with real grips Pachmayr or any other type of original S&W grip - the frame is slightly longer than the real thing to accommodate the 12 gram capsule and piercing assembly. I understand there is a supplier of wood grips specially built to fit these.

The finish is good and I have not noticed an degradation or dulling.

Rockdrill.
Hi Buddy.
And thankyou very much for answering my questions, I like the Umarex Version of the M29 3" they look so realistic, but they dont seem to pop up second hand, so that must mean people are keeping hold of them. I had a .38" Special when I was in the Forces in Germany and it was a great little thing, BUT the kick was so bad it hurt the web of your thumb and finger, god knows how they were suppose to hit anything over 20 yards, but I love it.

Have you any idea who makes the wooden grips?

Are both of yours the Umarex model. I have seen other manufacturers but the outline seems wrong because of the hight above the pistol grip so it can take the CO2 Canister,

Thanks again Mate.
