Just treated myself to a new gaming console (Playstation Pro) and now realise that my 10 year old TV is not up to the job, so a new TV is now wanted.
My wife has complained she can't always read the text on the tv, so thats another excuse to get a new one, Lol...
Our current tv is a Samsung 48" HD, pretty basic by todays standard.

So what good TV's can you recommend?

My budget is about £600 max, don't want to spend a fortune, so Sony Bravia is probably not an option for me.
The TV's main use will be gaming for me (via the PS5 Pro) and watching films and generic TV for the wife.

I've had a few LG's in the past and they all seemed good, so would not mind another LG.
Although my old Samsung has lasted 10 years, I keep reading that the current ones often don't last that long, so I may avoid those for now.
I keep reading that Hisense and cheap for a reason, but have no experience of them.
I understand that Hitachi, Philips, etc are not the companies they once were and are just brand names now, but without the quality they use to have?

On my must have list is the following:
min 65" screen size
4k minimum
60fps minimum
HDMI 2.1 minimum
VRR (Variable refresh rate)
Either 120/144/165 Hz panel
I prefer min LED or LED over Oled (no image retention issues).

I have read a fair bit about TCL, apparently now the 2nd largest TV supplier on the planet (Chinese).
The few reviews I've seen are pretty good, not seen much negative about them.

A model I am looking at is TCL TV model - 65Q6C-UK QD miniLED 65" cost is around the £550 mark ish.

Thoughts appreciated, cheers

Check out the range in the TCL brand.
Reported to be good TV's at a very good price.
I can't confirm either, not got one, never had one, it's just something I've heard & read about.

Paid about £600 for my Samsung 65 inch AU9000 LED 4 years ago. It has been ultra reliable and aimed at gaming with enhanced refresh rates etc..
Picture quality has been better than my previous budget brands. I wasn't even aware their quality had dropped.
Not sure if they still make my particular model but I have been impressed by Samsung.

LG or Samsung, I am a LG fan.
Look at What Hifi magazine awards for last year those will have dropped in price now.
I have only had good experiences buying from Richer Sounds and avoid Curry’s like the plague
Check viewing angles and distance re size of screen to your sitting position

65" at around that price possibly TCL or maybe Hisense, probably the best mix of picture quality and price

I usually buy Sony and have had no problems, but I believe now their cheaper models will be made by TCL.
Chinese manufacturing is now on par with anybody if not superior.

Yep, I've had a few Samsungs in the past, all were ok,, but I watch a guy on YT, he's in the UK, who does TV repairs and he tells it like it is, and apparently he see's lots and lots of Samsungs in his workshop now, he also slates Hisense (built right down to a min price apparently) and the quality of components used is carp apparently according to him, and some parts you can't repair or replace so once they go kaput, its new TV time.... See link to his channel....

Our 8 year old LG TV packed up recently and to be honest I hadn’t been overly impressed with it, especially seeing as it was middle of the range rather than a pure budget model.

We wanted a slightly larger, yet cheaper TV, and opted for Hisense. Ours was about £400, (55”) and for a little bit more money you can get one with FALD or even mini LED. Our is Direct LIt LED, but this is just fine for us.

I don't think that £600 is enough to get a decent OLED, especially 65"
I should add that I have an LG oled, my second one, but if I was looking at non oled 65" around £5-600 I'd probably move away from LG as there's better picture quality to be had for the price, such as TCL and Hisense

Edit: I was supposed to quote my own post not yours 😅

Yep, I'm sure theres good and bad in all TV makes.
I've had LG, Sony, JVC, Samsung, etc over the years and TBH never had a bad one, they always last a good few years. But the trouble is you do loads of research and then you come across negative comments/reviews, etc and it then that biases my view, Lol!
I probably need to stop looking and just go and buy one.... (y):ROFLMAO:

Reviewers galore and difficult to trust that they don't have their own bias.
Samsung & TCL apparently sell the most TV's on the planet if that's any indication...

Sod it, its done, just ordered the one I mentioned above, seems to tick all the boxes from my wish list, and having done a bit more research, its got QD (Quantum Dot) and mini LED, which seems to be the better screens to have and all the gaming features I want too.
Job jobbed.... gotta wait for it to be delivered now....Bah! :ROFLMAO:
