In my experience, at airgun ranges, sticks for stalking are a non starter, too much faff when trying to stalk quarry, usually need to be low and quiet, use something like a gate post or natural rest. Similar to my experience with rangefinders, not once in 35 years of hunting have any quarry ever sat about whilst I faff about with sticks or they stop to let me get out the rangefinder and see if they are 28 or 30yds away!
I tried an early trigger stick and couldn't be bothered with it. For ambushing quarry from a hide or hidden position yes absolutely a tripod. I now use a lightweight folding tripod thing if I need to.and can be deployed in sitting or standing position. Also alot cheaper than trigger ones and repairable with basic nuts and bolts, does exactly the same job. If it helps you shoot better and makes life easier try them.
