Toyota Hilux appreciation thread

The one that Clarkson and co ran on top gear showed what a fantastic vehicle they are.

Only been a passenger and it was way more car like than my Landie.

they are a very capable vehicle andy my wife loved driving it.
it was used on building sites for inspection visits to update property buyers on progress of builds and airport pickups when buyers came over they could bring as many suitcases as they wanted.

I bought a new 2.4 hilux invincible x in 2019, excellent 4x4 on the motorway its virtually silent and 33 mpg. Previous car was a hilux surf 3.0 did 220000 miles and had it for 22 years!! I am a Toyota fan.. I also inherited a Toyota amazon 4.2 land cruiser modded for off road, lift kit, 34inch tyres, 10000 ib winch, bull bar etc. unfortunately the wife said NO!

Don't question it, it was an annual wash thing, like banging a September baby out

thats very nice.
it was a choice of the l200 or hilux when i bought mine but i was seeing too many 5 year old l200s driving around smoking, if i remeber there was around 20% difference in price.
i would buy another but unfortunately dont have a use for one.

Can't speak for the more recent models. Some may be manufactured by Peugeot and sold with Toyota badge but the older models are bomb proof.
Buy one with a 2.5 D4D engine. Code 2KD - FTV. The timing belt runs off the fuel pump and can be renewed in one hour.
As easy as taking apart a TX200.
Resetting the timing belt warning light being the most complicated part of the job.

Purchased the L200 new 2006 never had any issues in all that time was just getting a bit tired rusting underneath from launching our boat

Use to get a New Navara every 3 years with me job number of times they were in the garage with issues was serious

So decided on the Hilux boat has gone so this one might last even longer 🤣🤣👍

I'm on my third L200 but unfortunately the last as Mitsubishi have pulled out of the European market. It's a shame as I much prefer the super select 4wd system on the L200 as you can leave it in 4wd on the road.

I'm going to hang on to this one for longer than the others then I'll see what's available in a few years.
