so, years ago i had the idea of making a Chaser Arrow pistol and seeing that i am 76 i thought i needed to do it
now for the many shooter here this would not be a great idea the cost will crush you
a breech i had off a Trailscout
had a .22 caliber barrel end off a Stormrider and some other stuff needed some bolts and i piece of brake line had a brass tube to make the brake line fit the .22 barrel perfect added a Weaver mount one hole needed in the breech had a SeeAll sight and i lot of thought and you get this n
now is a hunting rig maybe not but it will crush boxes better then i hoped
so wild ideas years to simmer and you build stupid stuff
a one of a kind and the long drill was used to get the depth of the bolts the same clearing out glue for the inserts
i drilled the barrel at 4.2mm made the tp out of 4---2.2mm CS x 5.6mm ID O-rings and the barrel stub has the same O-ring behind with a .3mm squish to make the probe have a tight seal
and i have 8 Chasers i know so i just stole the bottom off one
it works damn well

so, this is not a toy i would not want to be shoot by it but the power and the arrow is interesting
1 gram is 15.53 grains
arrow
12.67 grams = 195 grains
that is the same as 28 x7gr pellets
so, to have it work and have the power it does surprises me
i have a small box full of card broad and i got 20mm penetration but the arrow tip is almost .30
again, not a toy i need to play with some more

good question on FPS don't know
i tried a different point last night, it is for blades but left them off and yikes it is a under 20 foot basement pistol
4 inch of Styrofoam i think would be a great target
for what it is they hit with a thump got to be in 150-200 fps range
for that is around 30mm
the box is 65mm wide with 19 inserts and 2 sides
a BSA scorpion will go through 10 and Hatsan 25 here in the states will go the back of the box both .177
now with the drag of the tip on the cardboard it show good power
it was an experiment
all shots at point bank range

Been down that road but on a larger scale , firing 20 inch steel tipped bolts but I scrapped it when I realised quite how lethal it was , arrows propelled by air is now an illegal platform in the UK I believe

Classed as a section 1 firearm after the first court case concerning them though there is nothing officially naming them in the Firearms act to the best of my knowledge.

Kind of, Stare Decisis is a strange principle that doesn't change the law as such, it can be relied on in future cases so long as the future case is held by an equal court or lower court.

Not something I'd really want to test by bargaining my freedom though ...

well the post was what could be done not go out and do it
there have been a fair share of companies that has made arrow guns in the states, and they are competing with the Crossbow market
i for one have had a self cocking Crossbow from Barnett since the late 70's

There are many things in my head I could make but wouldn't because I know they would be viewed as illegal or a dangerous weapon so they stay in my head , we dont have a zombie apocalypse or live in a country where bears or lions roam free so a nice little. 22 sub 12 meets all my needs in the uk.

if you think that would help you against a Mountain Lion or a Black Bear you would be very under gunned
a brown bear would just laugh at you before eating you
so are all those animals in the states yes do many people get attacked a few as well as snake bite and even Gators
if you are in the woods in some areas Bear spray and .44 mag on your hip but not in the lower 48

just read your in the states, presumed you were in the uk where the adaptation of guns could land someone in hot water, and I was just pointing out here in the uk we dont have need for self defence weapons against dangers or predators
