Took a while but managed to mount the scope, find a mod adapter for my sak1 with carbon bottle and quick fill foster and the 19” barrel and now ready for field work.

This is my 1st Theoben and I know most people say it’s ugly but I really do like them and want a sub12, I do like the new laminate Theoben but does anyone own a new one and what are they like compared to the original..
photos of your Theobens are very much welcome..

Doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks. As long as you are happy with it and like the looks that's all that really matters. If we all liked or disliked the same thing the world would be a boring place.

I like the look of it. How does it shoot?

Still yet to take it out for a shoot and zero the scope in but definitely looking forward to it..
but do like the new laminate version that’s out..

with regards to the new ones, not saying they're all bad but a guy at my club has had to send his back twice for issues he's had
not sure what issues they were though, that said i'm not put off from buying one but i have four of the mfr versions in each cal of the old ones so will need more persuasion to spend over 2k on a new one, i will add i'm leaning towards an early tm 1000 that's causing an itch that may need scratching

In regards to the new RAW made Theoben Rapid laminates, from what i've read from owners in general they seem to be very accurate and reliable,i have only seen a couple of used ones for sale so folks must be happy with them.
I was toying with idea of getting one myself but current finances dictate otherwise at the moment, but they are the only gun out there to peak my interest at this time.

How do you find the trigger?
If you are talking about the gamo unit, they can be made better with a small 'roller bearing' mod and a small amount of light polishing, they are a chore to disassemble the first few times and you need a 'slave pin' to get them back together and go back in the block.
I have a couple of very good gamo triggers not quite mk4 good but far better than standard

Thanks, would you say that a mk1 isn’t a deal breaker then? There’s a couple in the sealed bid .25 FAC I was looking at but kind of have my heart set on a mk2…? Any opinions appreciated

The mk1 early block(or just r7 to name it correctly) are easier to work on with no more tools than a 22mm spanner and some allen keys as there is no reg to fail or adjust if you want to 'play' (7 orings total) they make plenty of power and shots especially in .25! And as said the gamo trigger can be fettled to plenty good enough,to really good when compared to standard.

The mk2s are more refined but the early r7s are tanks! theres nothing to go wrong other than leaky orings but, if you dont open them up all the time, they tend to just sit indefinitely with air in,i haven't touched/shot my early r7 for a few years,it still has air in and I know if I go to the range it will hit anything I point it at in sub 12 I get 253 shots in .22 un-regd from a 400cc bb filled to 180 bar👍

The R7 is the best handling air rifle I've ever used! Closely followed by the MK2 and MFR! I have the same opinion of the Theoben rammers, which for me, just feel right.
