The Boxing Thread

Never really liked AJ. He just seemed fake to me with his media trained interviews and "Stay humble" BS.
Fury I disliked to start , then I did a full 180 after watching a "documentary" about him & thinking maybe he's just misunderstood. He was championing the silent killer of men with mental health issues..
Course it was just another act so he had to go ! 🤣
I watched Usyk win his Cruiserweight tournament and thought this is The Guy.
If only he could step up to HW, the rest as they say is history...
AJ vs Fury has marinated for far too long...
I was a Fury fan from the start, ignored all the early crap he got due to his gypsy mindset.
Just thought he was a great boxer, very cleaver in the ring and could sell a fight.
Then he fell of the wagon BUT came back and reached the top THEN all the fame got to him thinking he ran the game and the dreaded ducking of Usyk, thats when i see a side i did not like.
Usyk on the other hand as surpassed Fury in all aspects and what a great champ he is.

Did anyone ever see the documentary of the Lennox Lewis camp vs Holyfield I think it was- one of the sparring partners had a detatched retina and Lewis paid his bills and the other sparring partner, Jeremy something, used his Judo to throw Lewis on his back.. they dumped him half way through the camp and there was a debate about where to train. See if I can find it on youtube and post it. The decision was a draw I think and Frank Malony I am sure was stomping around saying "If he won two rounds he was lucky" and Holyfield saying, " A draw means we get to do it again"..

Edit- posted below- was on the TV years ago. Worth a watch.

I never rated Lewis much, certainly never thought is was one of the "greatest" dont think he would of fared well in the Fury, usyk, wilder era

Who you got for the Wardley V Dubois fight tonight then? They are both heavy handed so I think it could come down to who lands a decent punch first.
I think Wardly is going to do it. Both strong guys but Dubious just aint right.I truely dont think he likes to box.Think he is pushed into it by his Dad.Its ok when the goings easy but when pushed like with Usyk,he gave up,you could see it in his eyes,it was like "this guys just hit me" plus you have the other mega brain Charles in his corner, what a duo him and the son are.
Dont think he should be in the ring anyway, defo a very low IQ and defo on the spectrum.

I always thought that Dubious sister was a better boxer than him , and yes, I get what you’re saying about his mental state
Agree about the sister. The Dad is very driven in the business game, think he takes this over to the boxing to.
Only ever seen DDD look interested in anything other than when i see him talking about how his Dad went from no money with a very small business to being a wealthy man. He seemed to come alive talking about it,anything else he is looking into space. Some pundits say all he wants to do is fight,i am not so sure.

Fury has always been a talent inside the ring. He is a showman and the sport will be duller without him when he truly "Retires".
If he accepted the Usyk defeats it would raise his stock imo. It's easy to judge boxers because they typically have less than stable backgrounds. I'm guilty of looking at their out of ring shenanigans and taking that into consideration of how much I like them as a person, rather than just a fighter.

That was a proper boxing match that, I thought here we go its all going to be all over in the first round. Man alive Wardley has a concrete chin on him as well, although i do think it should have been stopped the round before, he was out of it and his legs were gone, could have had some serious unnecessary damage done to him

I agree that it went on a round or possibly two rounds too long,Wardleys corner should have pulled him out rather than waiting for the referee to stop it.
Still not convinced with Daniel Dubious Dubois overall ability though 🤔

Never rated Lewis much, on what grounds do you base your comment on, can’t be one of the few to of beaten every man he fought, 2 time lineal heavyweight champion, 18 world title fights, 3 time heavyweight champion of the world, he’d of wiped the floor with today’s champions.

Last nights card was so good, Zak Chelli upset was insane! I was bouncing around the sofa for him, got to love an underdog story.
Wardley Dubois was mental, how Wardley was still on his feet I dont know, just hope hes ok, that kind of fight really takes its toll

Typically I expected last nights fight to be another borefest so I never watched it, it now looks like I missed a really good fight from I have heard today. Will have to try to find it showing on youtube or somewhere. Homer face palm

Was a great fight, they both gave it everything! Wardley sure is one hard man!
He will have to learn to move his head and stop taking so many punches or it will end up badly for him when he is older. This fight probably should have been stopped a little earlier.
Dubois is one powerful man but I still dont really rate him that much.
I believe a rematch is in their contracts.
