The Benjamin Akela Thread

I have a £300 akela and wouldnt sell it for what i paid for it for the simple reason what would i replace it with for similar cost. One if the best value offers ever, shame it has devalued the full price ones.
Love mine and would think a little used one at 300+ish should be snapped up.
Paul.

I run Johns mags in a lot my guns, they are excellent. How was the tube for undoing? Some can be villains without marking cylinder. I assume you had to create a breather for the reg?
Absolute pig to get off, welded on you would have thought.

the problem is the opening to the pellet probe is about 10mm by 10mm and allows the pellet to drop back into the probe area, I'm going to see if I can print a blank to block this off but allow the probe to still work as it should
You have any luck printing one Gary? Thanks

That’s just looks less unwieldy and more balanced. Before it arrived I had considered a thread adapter to fit a mod, but quickly realised I’d end up with a modern day Long Tom length BP. I know most of the Kral stuff is interchangeable, so dropping the cylinder length and going with a matching barrel length would probably transform it again. I got slightly more lucky with the wood, it’s not exceptional, but it’s decent.

This was day one:

BLO, first coat thinned slightly with a few drops of white spirit so it was thinner and absorbed deeper, after that I just made sure the BLO was warm when rubbed in, let it absorb for 30 mins then buff off.

That’s what I used, tend to use my bare hand to rub into grain, heat from hand helps absorption

Yep, that’s my preferred method, the warmer and thinner the oil is to begin with, the deeper it soaks in on the first coat. It’s also really important to get the excess off rather than let it go off, but if like me you get sidetracked, -and forget for 24hrs, white spirits is enough to get the surface stickiness off again.
