The FX , I totally missed that model while I was looking around... just attach to barrel and slip it in your pocket. portable and looks good.. the device calls out the shots in audio and gives info in graphs and by data.

I am going to do a couple of posts on chrono threads- Just called Ronnie Sunshines in Berko as I had an enquiry on a pellet to possibly use to chrono, post TX clean (and relube - when I relube it).. contrary to everything I think I have heard, which is to test both high and low but that low weight gives the highest chrono reading- ie test as LOW as you can, in case lightweight lead readings could find you over 12- Ronnie Sunshines Berko, when I called to clarify a pellet weight, he advised "You should test on the heaviest pellets"

Now, that seems to me - a 180 on most other opinions I have heard- ive seen posts, which am sure had lower weight pellet recommendation for .22 chrono tests. I was thinking of using lighter Hobby .22 11gr?

Anyone clarify for me please, while test both, its the lightest weights that are going to give you highest rating. Sunshine must have though I was using PCP. He did not ask what I was using- just NO- use heaviest you can get.

The bullets vary in weight, but the rifle settings remain constant. PCP
JSB 0.54-270 m/s-20 J
JSB 0.68-251 m/s-21 J
JSB 0.87-218 m/s-21 J

Yeah, I watched that when it popped up in my feed last night. A definite reminder of how the law can screw us right over if we're not careful.

I already bought a cheap £20 chrono, and it seems to work well and consistently though I have no idea as to its actual accuracy or calibration.

What the video told me is that I need to pick up just a daft 50p notebook to keep with it. Written records of having tested my guns periodically (or after any fiddling) with both heavy & light pellets should at least serve as evidence that I've done my due diligence in keeping legal, hopefully isuring against potential jail time should anything go wrong.

I live in a leafy, middle class suburb of Sheffield on the outskirts of The Peak District and I don’t like stepping out of my front door with guns in full cases. I scamper to my car as fast as possible. Additionally, I get on with all my neighbours. You just can’t be too careful….

As I'm currently researching my gun purchase, looks like I also need to budget in a chrono.

I don't need to tell you about some of the numbers some of my air rifles make. A few are an Air Force in .22, FX in .22, two Shin Sung's in 9mm, Sam Yang in shot shell out .50 cal slug, etc

Lucky you lot Mr Dlobi Must be great stuff. Wondered what your rifle on display up on the wall, top right with wood stock. Wondered what that one is?

That one would likely be exceptionally scary across the pond from me.
It's a .22 cal springer pellet or .22 cal rimfire!
On the receiver side of the breech (with break barrel open) you can swap out a rubber (leather?) seal with a metal tidbit that moves with enough force with the air pressure to strike a rimfire cartridge to shoot it. I've shot it with both pellets and rimfire cartridges. Cool gun. Mfg 1884-1913. I'll include a pic from the latest blue book of airguns.

That is a candidate for one of the best "airguns" I have seen. Looks like one to have in a collection for sure. Nice.

The Daisy VL, look it up if you didn't know about it.
They were quickly told to stand down and stop manufacturing of it by the U.S. BATF as they considered it a "firearm" and not an airgun. I had one and shot it both ways. Very nice gun.

(I need to do a sticky sometime!)

Recommend you buy a quality known unit... cheap *may* work... but you may never know if its giving you the correct information.

Looks good. Classic air rifle. You are lucky stateside. We are lucky in parts of the UK as the Scottish northern part of the UK. I think its a firearms licence for anything at all.

I bought of those cheap £22 jobs, made in the peoples republic of China, with no quality control and where you assemble the Chrono. I binned it as it was just junk. Local retailer had an FX radar Chrono, where you fix it to the barrel and use a smart phone. I dont think its worth anyones time, trying to use a £22 Chrono and hoping its fairly accurate. Like anything, you pay for what you get.

What if one were to buy a cheap Chrono that under reads and one thinks the airgun is under 12. Just not worth the time.

Cheap ones will work and are much better than nothing!
The one I use in my videos is my old, battered and abused LMBR2. You switch it on, enter the weight and fire. A simple chrono for a simple user!

I have also been using/testing a couple of Natechrony chronos. These are next level nerd! They hook up to your phone/device and can do so much more than just tell you the velocity or a pellet. If you want something to gather data to amaze your friends and knock women bandy, this is where you should be looking

What appealed to me was the chrono always being in exactly the same position and accurately aligned with the barrel - no differences in distance or angle. Variations there would probably only have a tiny impact on accuracy, but if you're going to measure you might as well do it right, right?

I test at home so really like the fact that you can have it connect automatically to the WiFi as soon as you connect a USB power lead - then it can be viewed on anything in the house that has a web browser (more than one device at a time, if you want). I use a desktop PC with a big screen to see the numbers in real time (and call out muzzle velocity if required) ... for me this is better than using my phone, and if I want to keep results they save directly onto the computer. Obviously if you're out and about you can use a phone/tablet/laptop instead to both provide power and view the chrono page.

Sadly none of this has had any noticeable effect on the wife so far - maybe I should be asking Nate for a refund
