Tasco 3-9x40 World Class Riflescope 30/30 Reticle were they any good, Later model with mat finish.
Thanks in advance.

I have no direct experience with that model. I shot metallic silhouette using .308W with a Tasco World Class 25X44 for years. I have tried other outfits with much more expensive scopes and found the World Class equal to any of them and very durable over thousands of shots, often in crummy weather. But I have never had one on a powerful springer.

I still have the scope, and it is not for sale. I do own much more expensive scopes.

Bushnell and
Tasco both made higher end scopes that were VERY good but kinda tarred and feathered by the rep of their cheappies.

The earlier ones were made by Hakko of Japan.Tasco were not the makers they were importer and distributor of leisure and sporting goods. The ealier ones with the black gloss finish were optically very good as they had multi coated optics known as 'SuperCon' coating, meaning super contrast i presume.
As far as i'm aware Tasco the company ceased trading and went into liquidation assumably and the brand name was bought another company and the later scopes were then made in China.
I had two of the earlier 4x40 WA japanese Tascos and there were very good for their price. At the time they weren't the cheapest, they were what you would have termed perhaps a mid range scope. They were popular at the time along with Kassnar scpoes.
The mat finish ones were made in China or at least the couple i've looked at were.
When thinking of buying older or vintage scopes you need to closely examine the lenses as over the years the coatings on the lenses can degrade and a sort of fungus can form on the glass and i mean the inner surfaces of the lenses not just the outer surfaces. it can take the form of freckle like spots.
So you need to hold the scope up to bright light, not the sun of course, and look through it at various angles and from both ends to see if there is any fungus spots on the lens surfaces.

I was at the range today with my World Class, True Mil Dot 3-9x40 (matt finish), on the springer. I’m still blown away by the clarity of the glass. It must be 15 years old now. It’s easily as good as a £400 scope today. No AO though. Ret is a bit fat, by today’s standards. I did have the spotting scope out today, as 9x, at 25m, gets a bit difficult with these aging eyeballs
