Taipan Slash Owners' Knowledge thread

Went back to my dealer yesterday and one of their guys has 3D printed a new pellet seater that puts the pellets further into the mag...Hey presto and the pellet mag indexing issue is now sorted..

Faultless operation on both mags now and it's just zapping mag after mag into the same ragged hole.

Is that with the 18.1 grain FX branded pellets? I'm not yet getting the accuracy I was hoping for...

It's not as pellet fussy with the new pellet seater so it groups well with anything JSB.. standard 15.89 or Hades are about the same now.. the FX heavys are still a bit tighter but probably not by much..

This thread has given me some hope... especially the pic of the 5p rapid group. I've been trying to decide on which self indexer for a while now. I'm hopeful that, between feedback from the user community and Taipan's reputation, this will become a really viable option for the sub 12 market.

So Zogg which one do you like best out off the 4 seif indexing rifles you own

The Leshiy is my favourite, followed by the Taipan and the Huben.. Steyr in last place

Not that there is anything wrong with the Steyr.... I just favour the others more

If i had to name a reason I think it's the price of it, it's a £1000.00 more than any of the others and its not another grands worth of gun if that makes sense.. horses for courses though

What is their order of merit in the accuracy stakes?
The Steyr is .177 and it has the edge on all of them but surprisingly not by that much, the other three are very evenly matched but again the Huben is .25 so perhaps loses out a little in favour of the other two in .22..

Steyr trigger is the best followed by the Taipan then the Huben with the Leshiy in last place

Whilst I don't own two of the above rifles...I slightly disagree regarding STEYR... my Hunter 5A scout is still the 'Daddy' & proven technology...I think it's a grand's more £££ all day long but were all different.

Exactly mate I agree we are all different, I am also inclined to agree with you on the Hunting 5 Auto, I used to have one and it was great but I have the PRO X and I am not convinced it's as good as the five (y)

My apologies... I've briefly shot a Pro X & was very impressed... but I wouldn't Swap one for my Hunter 5A scout for various reasons.
If you asked me whether a Pro X was worth £1700 more than my recent Taipan veteran ll cylinder Bullpup I'd have to say 100% not.

Wow!
I have given up with self indexers now. Great fun but they all seem to come at a sacrifice of accuracy. I hoped the slash may have been better but guessed it would be pretty similar.
Below are 10 shot groups done at 30 yards from a .177 pro x, .22 H5 and a .22 Huben. The pro x tends to do slightly better than that and the huben tends to do slightly worse, but that is how they behaved on the day.

All could be beaten by either of the fx liners that I have owned sadly.

Thanks Zogg.
Good to hear your opinion on ownership. and how you rate them .
I do own the huben k1 and a pro x and a gk1 . All in 22.. Love them all but I do use the k1 the most, the gk1 with the stock on is great fun to, so light and quick to aim. . None off them has never let me down.. And I never seated a pellet in any off them , and most off the time I'm loading them in the dark not one jam , perhaps I been lucky 😁

Same here, never had an issue, just shove the pellets in by hand and everything works tip top... The Slash is the only gun I have had where seating the pellets is necessary but a least it's flawless once seated so not much of a pain..

Nice to have trouble free rifles that just work out of the box, some manufacturers should take inspiration from these brands..;)

Very true, probably will never be as accurate as a non self indexing gun, but they certainly bring a smile on people faces when they use one .😁

Hi all

My local RFD pointed me in the direction of the Slash when I called in there earlier today, the self indexing feature for the price got my attention, £1k less than a Steyr is quite a saving. I watched a very informative series of videos on Youtube and the fiddly nature of the magazine loading has put me off slightly. I see from this thread that some users have got hold of a new pellet seating tool which seems to make the process easier.

I suppose the question I'm asking is the rapid fire of the self indexing system worth the faff of the loading procedure?
