I want to move my two pistols out of the cabinet to make room for another rifle. I have a plastic pistol case which can be locked with a padlock. However it would remain portable. So locked, but moveable.

Do you reckon this would be considered safe storage considering there are under 18s in the house?

Cheers

Should be fine as you have done most of what they ask for . You could if possible lock them away in a cupboard if you have one that can be locked.

‘Reasonable precautions’ means that when a child is present an air weapon must be:

stored securely
out of sight
separately from ammunition

in many cases, it will be sufficient to store your air weapon in an existing, suitably robust, lockable cupboard - keeping the keys separate and secure.

alternatively, you could use a lock or locking device to attach your air weapon to the fabric of a building, or to a fixed feature
or you could use a security cord, lockable chain or similar device attached to a point of anchorage within the building.

remember that the air weapon must be out of sight.

Can you cable lock it to something ? I have used a cable through the handle of my Flambeau hard case when visiting my brothers( due to AWC he is not allowed access even though he is over 18 as he does not hold an AWC ) . Also left them in car chained to the seat frame when staying in a hotel and no way to take them into the room. Covered up out of sight .

Mine is just a £2 cable from Poundland .

Edit. It was £1.

FEO approved it for the safe storage here .

Thanks @Bighit That's pretty much what I was thinking. However thinking about it further I might just buy a pistol cabinet and get them locked away properly.

I done this for my 2 pistols, does the job and can close the cabinet door no problem without the hooks touching the rifles

Mine are in locked cases, stored in the back of a wardrobe, with no pellets stored in the cases, that covers me 100% as far as I’m concerned 👍
