Hi, forum members. What advice would you give regarding the storage of PCP's please? In regards to: -
1; ideal pressure
2: moisture protection
3; should the rifle be fired periodically
4; should the action be removed from the stock
5; any other advice
I am a "fair weather" shooter so the time frame will be a month or two.

I’d fill the pressure up before storing as I believe the seals are less likely to to create an issue if they’re under pressure.?
And check it periodically to make sure there’s no leaks.
VP90 moisture absorption pads work very well (best if the locker is air tight) and if it’s in a cold area ,a heat bar that reduces moisture in the locker or area of the locker .
Apart from that I think you’re good to go 👌

Worth also giving it a wipe down with a cloth with a bit of silicon oil so there is a very light protective film on the external parts.

Also worth storing them in rifle socks. These really help protect against scratches.

That having been said, its not worth worrying too much. They don't require much maintenance.

I suppose it depends on how long you want to store the rifle for. In my case, I'm down to my last PCP now, a HW100s that I purchased brand new back In January 2013.

And personally speaking I never remove the air cylinder ever. Why, because each time a cylinder Is unscrewed from the rifles action the O ring that creates a seal and stops any leaks Is then put under pressure. And In my opinion this Is one of the main reasons why some people moan about their HW100 rifles leaking on a regular basis.

All I ever do when storing the rifle after I've used It down the farm Is to first acclimatise the rifle to room temperature once I get home, and then I wipe down all the metal work and woodwork with a silicone cloth and then top up the rifles cylinder to at least 150 bar for the storage period.

And I've never had any leak issues during storage with my HW100s whatsoever 👌

Ps : It's also advisable to fire off a few shots every couple of weeks or so just to allow the O rings to stay lubricated and therefore to keep a good seal and so reducing the risk of possible leaks. There's also nothing wrong with removing the stock occasionally just to give all the unseen areas of the action a wipe over.

1. 100-150 bar
2. Dry warm place (not overly warm) - if not, try and store in a place where there aren't big temperature fluctuations and use silica gel packs to absorb moisture, regenerating every couple of weeks in the oven.
3. Dry fire periodically.
4. Action in stock - if damp/wet before storing, ensure the rifle is thoroughly dry beforehand.
5. Rub over the stock and action with Ballistol (other oils are available) and remove moderator if fitted (internal felt if fitted can retain moisture that migrates to the muzzle thread and cause corrosion)
