I've never done one but I was going to use normal varnish/paint remover. I'm interested in opinions or tips though because I've got an old BSA which is worth the square root of nothing that I'd like to tidy up and give a new lease of life among my other projects.
I'm particularly interested in how to get it off from the checkering.
