STEYR AIR 5 / AIR 10

Hand tight is fine, when you fill to 200 and it drops, does it drop until empty or just level out at say 180-190 ?

It was like this when I got it, I then filled it up to 200 last night, I just took this picture of what it looks like now after 12 hours.

I noticed it going down really slowly while I was doing the software update on the zulus and trying to work out why they sent me the wrong adaptors for the mount.

Bugger, in that case I would give Simon or Helen a call (Steyr UK) tomorrow and I am sure they will help and arrange for it to go back if necessary... Very unusual to have something like this with Steyr Uk as they are genuinely one of the best importers out there but of course that won't stop you feeling miffed.. I know I would but they will sort it quickly.. (y)

Depends a bit on the zero range and trajectory of course (pellet weight/calibre and muzzle velocity). Originally the Zulus shipped with a 35 moa mount as standard.

I use 20 moa on both my HW110 and H5A - both .177 and zeroed at 35 metres. The rail on the latter looked like it had some tilt on it so I started with 0 moa, but it needed a lot of 'y' offset.

I remember hearing that about the zulus originally coming with that, and then I think for a while you could pick which one you wanted.

If it works I am happy with it but I do have quite high axis numbers vertically when I zero, but it does work flawlessly which is all I care about.

Yes when I got my V1 (pre DNT) you could choose the mount. My ThermNight came with both 0 and 20 moa mounts (y)

With the 0 moa mount on the H5A I found that at extreme ranges (I was shooting tin cans at 100 metres) the reticle disappeared off the screen and I was left with just the holdover mark :D Mind you I've not tried it again since swapping to the 20 moa.

When I'm practicing at 80 meters in 20 times magnification the same thing happens, when I am in 5 times I can see the reticle and hold over on screen, you can change it to dial in if it bothers you.

I think the zulus is brilliant, I mostly shoot from a upstairs room (where this picture was taken) it accounts for the angle and the distance and always gives me the correct hold over for the rabbit or squirrel or tin can.

Looks like that’s been mown with a push mower going from the width of the stripes?

Great set up, hope you get your new rifle sorted quickly. I doubt it’s anything major.

The solenoid on the zero turn ride on mower was being funny, I had to cut the back garden and the rest of the field which is either side of the top of the picture with the little push mower, it was hard work lol. The ride on is sorted now, I never want to cut all of that (nearly 2 acres) with a little mower again lol.

Wow! Looks amazing though. When I had a problem with our original (very old) ride-on I got a compact tractor with a flail mower out, and our main garden is tiny compared to that :D The flail does have a rear roller so actually gives a reasonable imitation of stripes on the field I mow:

I have an old walk along Honda that I use round the house, but all of our land is a bit 'agricultural' for cylinder mowers :giggle:

That's looks great, that's the only thing I don't like about the ride on, it doesn't do stripes, I have a separate roller that I can tow behind but it's not the same.

I'm trying to call Steyr but either no answer or straight to voicemail, they must be busy on a Monday morning.

I thought it was bloody ambitious 😂

I spoke to Simon at Steyr UK and he said to take the cylinder off the rifle and fill it to see if it holds air so we can work out if it is the cylinder or the rifle that's leaking.

After speaking to him I feel reassured that something is being done and I have to agree with the people who have told me that Simon and Helen are fantastic, I have spoken to both of them and they are brilliant.

I'm just still a little bit disappointed that I have been waiting ages for this gun to be available and now I finally have it I can't use it, but that's typical of my luck.

I did dry fire it last night to make sure it wasn't just a valve sticking, the self indexing is incredible and I can't wait to actually be able to put a scope on it and shoot some pellets.

Please don't let my experience put anyone off buying one, they are exquisitely made air guns, it's the best air rifle I have ever held, it's perfect IMO, the trigger is just right, it's shoulders and points amazingly, if it's accurate it will be an incredible pest control/ hunting gun. I love it.
