Hunting Squirrel feed

Well back from hols and back to work. Trail Cam did ping once when away showing one squirrel visit and then again yesterday showing 2 around the feeder same time. Checked it today but feed is still almost full. Maybe they haven't figured out yet how to get the peanuts out so I wedged the lid open and sprayed more aniseed oil around to see if that helps. Hopefully I get some more pings off the cam in the morning 🤞

Went to my permission to check on the squirrel feeder and it’s vanished. Checked with the farmer and he’s not moved it so I guess either someone liked it for their own use or a pest lovers removed it. O well that’s going to cost me a bit of time to build an all new improved model 🙄

Some good tips on here Ref: tree rats not only peanuts going off but the use of doing your homework first ie:fieldcraft
Excellent advice in my eyes
Even us Seasoned hunters maybe raise an eyebrow now and again
Cheers

Well looks like a move for the feeder. No sightings since the weekend only some Jay's. Will get it moved nearer the farmhouse as the owner says she does see squirrels about there.
Going for a walkabout on Saturday, weather permitting, around the woods before fitting the feeder to see if any signs of squirrel activity.

Now that leaves are off the trees, don’t forget to “rough up” the area surrounding the feeder and scatter some bait about for aerial observation by the squirrels until you get regular visitors. Personally I only use whole Maize laced with aniseed oil (sparingly) to keep costs down
