Edgerati.

Was a bit on the fence with this one. But gone ahead anyway.

Pleased I have, it is somehow way better in person than in photos. I think because of the depth of it with those crazy sports car chassis inspired scales. Has a three dimensional thing going on that is hard to explain.

😎

Yesterday I ordered a Spyderco UKPK from Heinnie Haynes, this is the one with the CPM SPY27 blade and Cobalt Blue G10 scales and it has just arrived via a DHL courier.

I checked on line with HH on Tuesday and the price was £124.95p but I thought I would wait because I wanted it delivered today (Thursday). I checked agin online with HH yesterday (Wednesday) and it had been reduced to £119.95, so I quickly ordered it, and here it is.
The AZ code dates manufacture to January 2026

Nicely centered blade

It remains to be seen if the forked full length backspring will stand the test of time.

As usual it is shaving sharp out of the box and I'm sure it will see some pocket time.

I have a HH in G10 with a S30V drop point and it is a noticeable step up in terms of quality and feel over the FRN model.
Spy27 is a brilliant steel too which gets a wonderfully sharp edge very easily. Highly tempted by one of these. Borderline no-brainer really…

You'd better hurry up 'cos the current stock is a re-supply after the first batch sold out

Now that does cool 👌

They could literally be talking about me in that video. I remember vividly seeing the police and military models at shooting shows that had a small knife representation back in the very late 80’s and early 90’s and thinking wow. I didn’t pull the trigger so to speak because at that time the handle felt thin and weak, I don’t think the liners were as obvious as they became with the introduction of ATS34 as their go to steel, I’d go so far as to say, the military model I handled only had a liner on one side the other was just G10. It was when they introduced VG10 into some of their models my increased interest in knife metals really grew due to its high tungsten content and better edge retention. Interesting little video 👍

Well, Incandescent doesn't begin to describe my feelings toward the DHL courier that was supposed to be delivering my new Spyderco UKPK today. I have been sitting here excited at the thought of receiving my knife and checking the courier progress through their tracking system. It go to the point were I was due to be the next delivery and then I receive an email from DHL saying "Sorry we missed you, our driver has left a card with instructions, we will attempt to deliver again on Tuesday 5 May", this was acompanied by a photo of someones foot as proof of location and a map showing where the driver attempted to deliver, neither of which is anywhere near my actual address but was in fact the other side of town.

The DHL contact system has had me spinning around so much that I fell quite queezy and so angry that I had to step away from the phone and calm myself. Then a thought occured to me to contact Heinnie Haynes and report the facts to them. I'm not sure who I spoke to but he was a nice guy, I gave him the details that he asked for so he could pull the order up from the system, "Ah yes" he said and identified me and used my first name to confirm ID, He then recommended that they despatch another knife via DPD this time for delivery tomorrow, and that if the DHL one turns up to refuse delivery so it gets returned to them. We spoke as though we had known each other for years, I commented that I had been ordering from HH for about 10 years now and he corrected me by sayingthat my first order was back in 2011, 15 years of brilliant service from a company that many, many other companies could learn a thing or two about customer service from.
while typing this post I have received an email from DPD to say that they are expecting my parcel from Lorax (HH trading name), I don't usually have any problems with DPD deliveries so I look forward to tomorrow.

I now have two courier companies that are at the top of my f*** off list, Fedex and DHL, it's funny how one bad experience can taint your opinion.

I completely sympathise with you,DHL consistently let you down,my last order from HH that came via DHL got lost in theer system and I ended up going to the local depot to collect it as they couldn’t guarantee I’d see it for another 2 days 😡
I now simply pay the extra £1 and specify DPD who have never failed to deliver on time and their tracking system is accurate and easy to use.
TBH I think it’s time HH ditched DHL altogether.

I have had deliveries via DHL in the past and they have been Ok'ish until today. Usually I use the DHL eCommerce app on my iPhone to track my deliveries from companies that have used them, but the delivery before this one from HH wouldn't accept the tracking number, after a bit of investigation I found that the app was no longer supported or available on the iOS app store although I could access tracking data through their link in the email they sent. I even tried downloading another DHL tracking app but that didn't recognise the tracking number at all, I had forgotten all this aggro and ordered using DHL as the courier, I won't in future, it is well worth paying the extra for a better service. You get what you pay for

Well, after contacting HH regarding DHL's failure to deliver yesterday, HH dispatched a replacement for Saturday delivery and finally today I have taken delivery of my HH Spyderco UKPK. It was delivered by DPD this morning at 10:04am.

I won't bore everyone with more photo's of this knife but suffice to say WOW! The figuring on the Fat Carbon scales is fantastic, there is a depth and shimmer to them that I have never seen in knife scales before now, they are a thing of beauty and coupled to a CPM S30V blade will make it a stand out piece in my collection.

Ok, I lied
I took a picture on my iPhone with the flash on and I think it has caught the figuring in the "Fat Carbon" scales nicely.
