I bought a classic "springer" at auction. It was described as "main spring at fault", yet the air rifle appears to cock and fire just fine without any issue.
It appears it has had very little use and is tight like it's just left the factory.
Is the description from the auction house a way of saying it is over the limit?
I'm about to chronograph it this afternoon.
The description just seems odd, when there doesn't seem to be an issue.

Just chronograph it, readings are as follows:-
268.1
176.8
176.5
195.5
173.3 (all fps)

Piston seal and breech seal, I guess?

It's shooting out small black particles, remains of the piston seal?

Seems like a mint Webley Xocet XS.

It may have a gas ram fitted in, as there's none of the usual spring noises.

Did someone use Bubble gum as a piston seal?
