I have a Mk 2 Impact that has been a problem child since I bought it, it didn’t seem to matter what pellets I put through it , it would group……..ish
then throw flyers, sometimes it would then group where the flyer just landed then go back to where it was beforehand, 75 mm groups at 10 meters are not what I want in a PCP.
I tried cleaning the barrel, removing the barrel and the sleeve, making sure everything was tight and fitted correctly and I tried a couple of scopes that I knew are good?
nothing worked.

In desperation I removed the silencer, the group got a bit better and I mean only a bit, so I removed the shroud and It now shoots bob on, absolutely pellet on pellet (and so it should do at 10 meters) but bloody hell it’s loud!
The shroud and silencer look perfect, so why are stock factory parts giving this kind of trouble?
problem solved, but what do I do now?

Has any one else had a problem like this?

Isn't it possible to tension the barrel using the shroud?
I think I have read about this.

Rather Problem Identified I think you'll find ;).
Not sure how the FX shroud connects to the block/barrel but it sounds like it may not be lining up correctly, being worse with the moderator on (now longer) sort of supports this. Could be harmonics but less likely - any lead/marks in the shroud/moderator to indicate clipping ?

No , no marks but this gun was pre owned and someone has been inside the shroud, just going to have a look.

just for the record there are no crossed threads, everything seems to be as it should be?

couldnt get into the shroud but I took the shroud off my mk1 fitted it to the mk 2 and hay presto it shoots accurately!

It doesn’t answer the question , what went wrong with a tube with nothing in it?

The shroud has an inner oring that slides over the barrel. Is yours in good condition?

If you have the standard length shroud it has a extension piece in side, these can be cut on the wonk which pushes the shroud over

You will need some heat to remove the 1/2 in unf end and it screws on the back of that

If you take the barrel out fit the shroud then look down the barrel from the breach end you should see a dark halo all the way round the end if you see it a bit one sided then you have a problem 👍

I had a few POI and mag jaming issues with my M3, I have had it apart a few times and sorted a few leaks, the mag jaming was the way I was holding the rear and I think that may of contributed to my POI issues with odd random flyers every now and then as it shots really good now.

a mate had one in a bit back, i couldn't sort it. took it back to the rfd who rang fx.
apparently its not entirely down to the shroud but part of the action had to be filed/alloy removed. it now fits and shoots perfect.
sadly the RFD wont disclose the info and quoted ''We can not discuss this due to GDPR'' bull crap.

GDPR 🤣 🤣🤣 the one i had like that was the top rail hit the shroud, it had a lip on the front edge i thought it was a one off but sounds like there may have been a few of them

I had similar with my M3 when I put the harmonic shroud on after some head scratching it was the threaded bit for the silencer removed it and replaced with the one out of the original shroud and it was all good

I was going to say, get Geoff to sort a new shroud for it….

If it shoots as it should without the shroud n mod, is the barrel thick enough to have it threaded ?

Nice Idea but these barrels have a removable sleeve so there may not be enough metal to do anything with

I will use the telescopic shroud off my mk1 for the time being, if anyone has one of these for sale (a good one) I would be interested?

When you say heat, how much are we talking about?
