A bead is the height of luxury ... all I got was a bit of sticking plaster ! Getting the pin out of mine was interesting as the surgeon had put it in too far and bent the end over ... bit like trying to pull a fish hook out fully intact. Oh how I screamed as the doctor braced himself against the opposite side of the trolleyClearly not my smartest moment.
Whilst adjusting the runners of my up and over garage doors I slipped bringing the weight of the door down snapping 2 of my fingers in half.
The surgeon had to drill down through the top of my fingers inserting a rod down through my finger past the 2nd knuckle to keep my fingers straight for 6 weeks.
He even put a little yellow bead on the top of the rod to enable adjustment every 2 weeks.
Uncomfortable but very clever.View attachment 225619
Where I used to work the finisher of choice was a test tube bung or cork. Used to see them mainly on the bunion repairs, but the principle is the same.A bead is the height of luxury ... all I got was a bit of sticking plaster ! Cripes Gramps- Really glad they caught that thing in time! Not an accident, but late September 2020 i could feel and hear something weird rattling in my left ribcage.
I asked the wife to put her ear to my ribcage and listen, she said "bloody hell, what's that, are you ok?"
I was feeling just fine, no aches, pains, or anything, except this weird feeling.
"phone the doctors" she said. Not a chance (all doctors were hiding from Covid) So called 101and gave my symptoms, and a x-ray was hurriedly arranged.
They found a growth in my left thorax that was squashing my lung.

Then had a scan

Thing started happening rather quickly then, i had to self isolate until my op could be arranged.
Got a date for the op, and managed to test positive for Covid even though i had been self isolating for weeks.
Managed to get a negative Covid test and had the op early November.
