So, you've got scars...

Thankfully been free of fukkwittery since 2016 ...

... severed tendon and vein, plus pinned to second knuckle for good measure 😊

Clearly not my smartest moment.
Whilst adjusting the runners of my up and over garage doors I slipped bringing the weight of the door down snapping 2 of my fingers in half.
The surgeon had to drill down through the top of my fingers inserting a rod down through my finger past the 2nd knuckle to keep my fingers straight for 6 weeks.
He even put a little yellow bead on the top of the rod to enable adjustment every 2 weeks.
Uncomfortable but very clever.

A bead is the height of luxury ... all I got was a bit of sticking plaster ! Getting the pin out of mine was interesting as the surgeon had put it in too far and bent the end over ... bit like trying to pull a fish hook out fully intact. Oh how I screamed as the doctor braced himself against the opposite side of the trolley 😳

Where I used to work the finisher of choice was a test tube bung or cork. Used to see them mainly on the bunion repairs, but the principle is the same.

Broken tibia and fibula 1980. Plates and screws and a month in hospital. I'd gone out to buy my brother some shotgun cartridges and got hit by a speeding car. Leg was back to front when I came around. Speeder was standing over me. I would have kicked his head in if I could have stood up! 😄. Not really. I hold no grudges. Even though I got dumped by my girlfriend because I couldn't take her out anywhere! 🙄😩 Lost the hair on that leg and wound area is discoloured so no chance of getting another girlfriend 🤣

Not an accident, but late September 2020 i could feel and hear something weird rattling in my left ribcage.
I asked the wife to put her ear to my ribcage and listen, she said "bloody hell, what's that, are you ok?"
I was feeling just fine, no aches, pains, or anything, except this weird feeling.

"phone the doctors" she said. Not a chance (all doctors were hiding from Covid) So called 101and gave my symptoms, and a x-ray was hurriedly arranged.

They found a growth in my left thorax that was squashing my lung.

Then had a scan

Thing started happening rather quickly then, i had to self isolate until my op could be arranged.
Got a date for the op, and managed to test positive for Covid even though i had been self isolating for weeks.

Managed to get a negative Covid test and had the op early November.

A rather large tumor was removed by the brilliant surgeons at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

All good now, but have 6 monthly x-rays to watch for anything else going on.

The staff and care at James Cook Hospital were fantastic, even with Covid running riot.

By the way.... the food was great.......i would have happily stayed in for another week. 😁

Right wrist - fractured once, compound fractured once
Left wrist - once fractured, once shattered - each permanent pins & screws. Broken ribs x 4, broken collar bone x1, broken patella x1, fingers x4, jaw x1 , nose x2, ankle x1, toes x 3,

You sure are a glutton for punishment Chris.

Cripes Gramps- Really glad they caught that thing in time!

Here's to many more years free of ailments (y) 😎😎

I can't sleep and this made me feel ill so you have my utmost sympathy. I made this to cheer us both up...

Peter pointer loved to travel...

One day he met his soul mate Ruby ring

They got married and lived happily ever after.

The end.

Ingrown hair follicle, 0.3mm chip to left index nail, verruca on right foot, six inch felt tip pen mark on left forearm due to slipping when doing a crossword puzzle, nine blackheads during adolescence, and one regurgitated curry duing a works piss up.

It's a wonder I'm still here.

One of my many many scars.
Major abdominal surgery to repair some left over damage from a stabbing.

I've been blown up, ran over, multiple car accidents, sporting injuries, crush injuries and survived a few falls, one from 44 feet. Oh and stabbed, lost over 3 pints of blood and several inches of intestine. A Policeman saved my life, I am forever in his debt.

Countless... but the humeral break (clean, under skin) thanks to a taxi (who got away with it) has had the longest and most damaging effects. 13 years later and the nerve damage, aches and pains continue daily.

John :)
Thanks for that John. :)

The surgeon told me that it had probably been growing steadily for years, and just reached the size to let me know it was there!

It's now 30 months since my op, and i go for my six monthly x-ray and check up on Monday morning.

Hoping for the all clear again. 🤞
