I’m not a great walker anymore after another car driver knocking me off a motorcycle….(just a little consideration please but no……fiddling with the phone or was he trying to pick up a Malteser from the passenger footwell) is more important than not maiming someone….a £400 fine and 6 points for my life changing injuries!! I was well packaged too….broke my pistol grip alright that sports bike fuel tank! That was the punch line but it needed to be put into context to fit in with the last thread on broken things.

Oh dear still some bitterness there sorry I’m alright now just don’t walk as well as I did…..so now I ride an electric bike round the woodlands on the farms with my FX Crown slung over my back which is great. My shoulder slinging days are over with a mount on the piccatinny rail and one on the end of the stock and a bit of a Health Robinson leather strap, buckle n boot lace affair….but it’s quiet and functional enough.

Could anyone enlighten me on other sling methods or how single point slings works and especially if fixings are quiet or not metal.

@RussDouglas222 uses a single point sling . Can't find the video but Russ will be able to show it.

It hangs down the front of him though.

I use a three point harnes, SA80 style.

Leaves my hands free whilst walking around.

I think a lot will depend on your rifle as to which is best to recommend, tactical style guns do well from single points but a more conventional design rifle ,maybe no so much.

I use a single point sling from a D ring on the picatinny rail for the scope

Thanks, I like the SA80 style, being able to shorten the sling like that would be great for hopping on my bike with rifle on my back.
I’m not sure how it would work having to be attached to the left side of the gun avoiding the bolt/mag…. Being a lefty I’m carrying on my right.
@Alakar could you give me a picture.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I also use an electric mountain bike for getting round farms.
And also struggling to find a better sling idea.
For me the last thing I want is the rifle front mounted and hanging down as it's going to make it very hard to peddle the bike.
Rear mounted only half works because the rifle swings round and the the barrel hits everything in sight.
I did try a double sling and wore the gun like a backpack, but it took too long to get into a shooting position.
So watching this thread for for different ideas 🤞

I’m a lefty too.
I put the sling on my right shoulder , gun to left pointing down .
This shows it on my Katran . Admittedly it looks like it’s in the way , but it’s not .

Like to put a sling on my Dynamic Compact, haven't figured it out yet though.
Any suggestions please

This is a magpul sling you can use it as a double or single point sling and

you can adjust it on the go. I've taken pictures of it in both arrangements for your perusal. One love ❤️ Ali

Hi Martin, the QDs are the cheapo Magpul fittings off Aliexpress not the real steel ones. They fit perfectly into the holes in the stock and hold really tight. To be perfectly honest I no longer mount it to the butt cos the weight of the rifle started to loosen the stock, I only use it as a single point sling now attached to the rifle on the front of the scope rail as pictured. I am however mindful these fake Magpul mods are made of some sort of alloy not steel and i'm scared it may break therefore I always hold the rifle from the grip as added protection while i'm walking around but the weight of the rifle is taken by the sling effectively. If I had a proper AR15 or really expensive rifle I would only use the real Magpul QD's. Hope that helps mate. one love ❤️ Ali

Single point slings are for shorter guns and allow you to get the gun up on target very quickly, probably why they are popular with military units and private security operators.
A standard length rifle, unless you're very tall, would be catching on all sorts at calf level.
If it's purely to carry your gun on the bike, have you considered some sort of rifle sheath attached to the bike? Like the ones on horse saddles?
