Hello everyone!

Looking for a bit of help if I may. I bought my daughter a Sig Saur MCX a couple of years ago, I’ve always been in to shooting and it made sense when she was around 12 to get her a “plinker” so we could have a hobby together.

It worked brilliantly bar the odd pellet not firing.

Today, first time this year, we went out to do some shooting as I’d ordered a new target from Amazon. All was going well, got about 50 pellets in and then the gun just stopped working?

If you pull the trigger you can hear the mechanism working but it seems like no air is getting through? I released the bottle a bit and then screwed back in and that didn’t help .

Found this superb forum and did a search, someone mentions the cocking system at the back which we have tried but to no avail.

Any ideas? I can’t find any UK number to call for support and also cannot find any UK warranty information either?

Many thanks for you time and help.

Unfortunately Sig promised much about the MPX/MCX but it was seriously underdeveloped. The two main problems are blowing seals and probably what you may be experiencing in that the striker is only a press fit and has a nasty habit of just dropping out so although it fires it doesn't actually propel a pellet. There's a lot of Internet / YouTube about the problems and unfortunately Sig wouldn't release parts for it and there's no warranty and Highland Outdoors at the time wouldn't entertain any help at all. I know they've done an 'updated' version plus various different versions but to me I wouldn't trust them with a barge pole which is a shame as I really enjoyed it when it was new and working.

Thanks for your reply.

So there is no warranty on these? If so that’s shocking!

Yep, 12 months which is standard for anything you buy which wound me right up as it blew its seals at 10 months so went to H.O. for a reseal and 4 months later it blew again and there was no way they were getting involved and implied it was 'operator error'........w*nkers 😡

Sounds like it may be the common firing pin problem. Loads of repair videos on YouTube. They're actually not too bad to get into if you're handy with a screwdriver

The Canebrake is a properly sorted gun and performs really well. Mine's a delight to shoot and has been completely reliable. Not much help for MCX owners, but it's worth knowing.

It does sound like the common firing pin falling out of the hammer assembly that Ade C mentioned.

When unloaded but cocked, can you hear what sounds like a loose bolt rattling around if you shake the rifle?

Thanks for all your help, I’ll contact the shop we bought in from in the first instance.

Well, after many months I have finally got the rifle back! Took it back to the supplying dealer (local gun shop) a couple of months ago and they struggled to get spares from Sig, so the helpful chap there engineered the broken piece and its now working fine :)

What a nightmare from start to finish, but glad its sorted now, thanks all for the help and info!
