Haven't got a clue about the stuff. Will be needing it for a mod 100 x 50 size. Would like dull black colour. Any pointers on best option and possible link most welcome.
Thanks.. (y)

Polyolefin heat shrink tubing is available from electrical factors at that size. Just beware of choosing the right shrinkage. Generally available in 3:1 and 2:1 shrink ratio. Don't shrink it with a naked flame, use either boiled water out a kettle or a hot air gun (not an FX!).

I should of mentioned that i,d like it plain and im thinking as rubbery as poss would give the best sound absorption....Not sure if it comes in different thicknesses or if it would matter that much.. Dont suppose weight would come into it really.

I'm sure a shrunk cylinder of tubing at 100 x 50mm the weight would be negligible. Probably the same for sound absorption although you could trap an even wound layer of non-absorbent material around your mod which would probably make an interesting finish on the heat shrink. The matt black tubing would look good.

How about inner tube if you want rubbery feel
You sure you don’t have a fetish ha ha
Only joking mate
Cheers

we used it a lot in cable jointing etc, I wouldn't recommend the one with glue in it as you will never get it off if required.

Oh yes 👍
Had an apprentice put his hand through a piece of 3M cold shrink, that was interesting in the first aid room 🤣🤣

Heatshrink pot end would do very nicely 👍
I can't believe I've never thought of that before.

I used a section of bicycle inner tube on an old mod, nice matt rubber finish, just got to find the right fit.

If you want it permanent then use the heat shrink tubing with the glue lining the inside.

Taping a bare paintball tank vs the one covered with heat shrink tubing with my nail, I notice a more dull sound, not sure if this information is of any help with sound reduction. 🤔
