Also, being a chippy I've tried pretty much every 4 legged saw horse out there... even ones over £100 each. The only ones that dont wrack are the ones your grandad made.

Not a bench, but a machine rest I designed and fabricated many years ago for varmint shooting in the field. Has both rough and fine elevation & windage adjustment. Was excellent for long range ground squirrel and prarrie dog culls overseas. Not much use here in the UK now, as its a bit over kill and heavy for air rifle use; but here are a couple of photos.

Just as well they banned handguns, 44 magnum single handed for target shooting This morning I was wondering if it was feasible shooting the rifle single handed, but the sight picture was just too small. Now if I had an extended scope ring mounts

The saw horse for my base turned up today so I have screwed it together, just waiting for some neoprene sheet to cover it and top it off

Been thinking about this for a few months. MrsD and myself wish to get some Benchrest practice in, so I needed to build a bench which was nice and solid. Saw an online place doing "table leg kits" out of piping, so although more expensive than just buying pipe and fixtures I could spec all the pipe lengths I wanted (other option was I cut all pipe lengths by hand with a hacksaw). Top is 18mm "Buffalo" board. Some 3mm Rubber "coin" mat will be here in a couple days which I'll stick on top.

Really pleased with how it came out

I sit on a deckchair with a camera tripod in front of me, steady enough to hit 20mm spinners at 55yds with a springer.
And if it's nice I can lean back and have a nap

Works a treat, extendable legs, folds up and easy to carry. Cheap ply on top as a test but it's still doing fine,but eventually I'll change it for marine ply and automotive carpet.

From these guys

They are standard industrial pipe (kee klamp) and junctions system used for "railings and bannisters" .. and can be bought way cheaper in "bulk" however I'd have to have cut all parts with a hand hacksaw as I don't have a table saw. The guy was happy to do a couple of the pipes in custom sizes (for a slight cost)
