Sharp Ace sights query

And this
Incidentally, from the Vintage Airguns gallery, and sent in by you Louis
I think this is where Mick got his pic from

@landymick , @Johnbaz , my bad. I had not seen that yet - I will have to update my book. I should eat humble pie now. Is that scan from the Airgun Enthusiast Channel website? So this was on later Aces? I thought that the ones without a bolt “handle” were early specimens
I agree early Ace 2 screws in the bolt nob then bolt handle added later . As the rifle has a safety in the pic I assumed it was not the very early model .
The pic was on the AEC website .

Yep
My assumption is the early aces would have had no handle fitted in the rear hole of the bolt knob
I'd also assume the boxy type rear sight, first shown by Johnbaz and later in Mick and my pics, would also be on earlier rifles

Pretty certain that out of all the Aces I've had, all had the handle on the bolt knob and all had the non boxy type rear sight

A friend had a sharp victory, the only one I ever saw. I thought it was nicer than the ace, seemed a bit more up market to me.
Yeah I had one.
One of my bigger clangers when I got rid of that
Homer face palm

I hadn't noticed the different rear sight.
Glad to know now.

My boxed Ace without bolt knob, has the other, more common, lower type Ace peep.

Hey Louis
Still a bit of a mystery then, other than we know for sure now that more than one rear sight was used and some had the bolt knob while others didn't.

Its a shame we don't have a list of serial numbers and production dates.

For anybody wanting Innova sights.....
Ebay front and rear for £40

Adding this to my 'Watch" list produced an offer of £32 overnight.

£3 Post and Packing

I was sent some Sharp brochure images from Lawrie via email some years ago, This was among them, When I enlarged the pic it has the straight sided deep base same as the one I showed, I bought it from Ian Foster (Fozzie on the Bee Bee Ess) some years ago!

Louis, Would you like me to post the rest of the brochures?, They may be of use to you (y)

Here’s the rear sight from my newly acquired ace
I’d say it’s never been removed before now

Totally correct interference fit on the dovetails
Never been bent (like an innova one would have to be)

Totally mint condition

I will keep my eye out in sales. It would be nice to get it back to original.

Thank you John, and sorry for my late reply.
Do you mean the scans from post number 41?
I returned from Japan yesterday with some goodies and info, including the original Japanese manual with this higher type.
Cheers, Louis

Hi Louis, Hope you had a fabulous time!

I've some friends that have just landed in Tokyo but they're going to Omiya village to see some exceptional Bonsai trees!!

Yes, I have some scans of sales type brochures that Lawrie sent me some years ago (Scans and not the actual brochures), I have those already posted but as they're there I won't bother with them..
