Securing Air Bottles in Vehicles

Was just wondering if anyone had any novel ways that they secure their bottles in the boot??

I'm pretty new to the whole PCP thing and have just ordered myself a 4L bottle that I don't really want flying about in the back

Any ideas?

If your boot is full of all sorts of shxte like mine is, you will have no problem wedging it in

Failing that a wooden frame is easy to knock up, or best fittings offer an easy/cheap option

Evening all Just wondering how you all safely transport your cylinders? By this, I mean have you built a DIY frame to stop them rolling or just wedge it in the boot with other bits? I vaguely remember by Dad over 25 years ago building a small wooden frame. Cheers

There's a few threads on this already but a good question, I can strap things down in my boot, but people make boxes, use tool boxes.

Ive got one of these Best Fittings cradles. Its velcroed on one side so looks onto the carpet in the cars boot. Its adjustable for different sized bottle widths and really grips the thing so it doesn't slide anywhere.

Just ask the wife or girlfriend to hang onto it whilst travelling in the back seat.

I made a cradle from two pieces of gash 40mm waste pipe and a pair of webbing straps.

I use an old suitcase trolley .. the sort you strap your case to. A couple of supports fastened to the trolley and straps (old belts / bungee) to hold the bottle in place. Easy and takes my 12l bottle with ease. The wheels make it easy to pull along e.g. when taking it into the shop for filling. In the car it lies down and has a couple of old blankets holding it in place.

Saw someone post a photo of their contraption not too long ago, but pool noodles and some Velcro straps are a very cheap and safe method!

just what is your driving like? bung it in the footwell in the back it is designed to take bumps and knocks
