Just a follow up from last week's thread with regards the sales scammer we had...as he made a reappearance yesterday.

Luckily our member DID get all his money returned to him by his bank which we are over the moon about (and surprised too).

We had a new member try to list a rifle for sale yesterday which we knocked back due to him only accessing the forum via VPN. (We knew it was the scammer due to other tell tale signs).
We asked him if he could turn it off for us and he insisted he wasn't using one. He then very kindly sent us a photo of him holding the rifle:

Do you know this man? Is he your friend? If you do then maybe let him know a scammer has been talking to him on Gunstar asking him to send pictures. We believe his name is John.

We found the original listing and photos on Gunstar so we were fairly confident the same scam as before was in play.

@NIVEA contacted the scammer asking them to prove their location and send something with their location and details on. The scammer sent us a copy of his 'British gas' Bill:

Who can spot the AI mistakes on that?

Like I say we already knew it was our guy from other markers we won't mention but they are getting clever and they're using innocent Gunstar/Guntrader users as their cover.

He was also clever enough to offer collection on his post, to make him seem more genuine!

This post is to emphasise the importance of us asking that you don't use VPN and to occasionally log in without it so we are able to monitor your location. Had we not been checking for VPN use this listing might have slipped through the net and another member stitched up.
This includes Apple Private Relay.

So please don't be offended when listing an item if we ask you to turn VPN off briefly and log back in so we have a record. 👍🏻

And remember. Do your due diligence before sending any money. Be wary of fake ID and online based banks like Monzo/Revolut/Starling etc. Maybe ask for a phonecall and chat to the seller first.

Stay safe guys.
