it all started with my grand daughter saying she would like to get a 3d printer. i had often thought how amazing it would be to print anything you want ,that would be functional and strong .there were a number of things on my list ,co-axle front rest safty block for breach ect . i had seen a enclosed one cheap ish (£189) but turned out not so great .
with the thought of fumes drafts from people walking past and moisture also the ease of use and the fact they said it was a sale with £300 or more off ,i quickly brought a bambu labs p1s combo i did think the AMS was temperature controlled for moisture control, but its not .
it seemed a great idea if i had it so my daughter didnt demand i spent the same on all 3 .there are 10 year old twins and a 7year old the twins have phones so bambu hub i think will let them chose sparkly junk and i was hoping ,that if the were printing a dragon for example, i could suggest they design there own head or add horns ,so they would have there own unique design and encourage a young mind to learn and expand and get the reward of there print ,plus they will pick it up quicker than me and can show me .

So i have a chrome book, it says on the internet you can use bambu labs studio on it ,if you use linex but in practice the videos on google dont work now something to do with about 3 faults with the code and then still dont work .

So i needed a new lap top . from what i could work out ,some sort of gaming laptop would be best they are expensive, i normally get chromebooks for £180 and last about 2.5 years . so looking in the rabbit hole of s/h laptops ,a lenovo thinkpad T480 not the S. seemed best as it is made from components and
up gradable from what i could find , i7 was twice as good as i5 and i want ssd ,the more of GBs the better so i found a T480 with i7 8650u ,512GB ,32GB it has a not so good graphic card uhd620 , but should be ok .

my dilemma is ,it turned up with only one battery working ,it should of had 59% and 80% also i detected that if on charge with the removerable battery removed it goes on and off as inboard battery flat when you move the lead so the usbc power port may not have a lot of life in it i think its a new charger ,so may have wear in the socket and new charger half fixed it . so to get it to a point it would be good i think £100 on a mother board and what ever for a battery. £21 cheap burn your house down ,or £130 for a Duracell.
If i do this it should be all good for a few more years until windows 11pro is no longer supported .it does have a US back lit keyboard ,£30 to change to uk ,but i might get on ok with US one ,one more problem i dont have a disc to put windows back on a new mother board but my brother might be able to help with this
i cant find another with this spec for the same price i can find loads of newer ones with soldered in components which sort of makes them throw away items ?

Any suggestions of other options
it has a warranty for 1 month and was all updated on the 10/12/25 . I can send it back but what would i get for the money ?
