RWS pellet news

My rifles mostly love their pellets (.177 superdomes notwithstanding ๐Ÿ‘Ž) - it will be a sad day if they go to pot. Not likely to stock up, though, it's probably a good opportunity to do some pellet testing - you never know, sometimes you find something cheaper does the job.

Just read that RWS has been bought out by Beretta and they're likely to move ammunition manufacturing from Germany to somewhere cheaper. That'll probably be China then ๐Ÿ˜•
I know there's a lot of Superdome fans out there - maybe think about stocking up.
You're a day late & a ยฃ short, mate...
Beretta has owned RWS since 2022.

Sign of the times, prices are high on raw materials and wages due to inflation, people won't pay the off set manufacturers shift over to them, sales go down, business starts to fail, gets bought out before it sinks, then broken up by new owner, assets stripped, what's left is the name to trade on,move some of the 'core' products to cheap labour countries hoping no one noticed, and carry on regardless of quality at the same price.
I'd say they may just move over the borders to Eastern Europe save the hassle of moving the machines incuring heavy transport cost?

Never know,it could be a good thing? Berreta may invest a little in the 'quality' items/pellets? And drop any slow sellers to save space time and money,to push said higher quality sellers??
Either way it's another sad day for the sport and another marker for just how bad a state the world is in...

I bet H & N can't wait. Won't be doing any panic buying though - probably move to 5.55mm FTT.

Nice, thanks for this I had no idea.

Looking into it doesn't yield clear info. The Beretta Holding Group have committed to "fully supporting and maintaining the current sites" for ammo manufacture by RUAG as they supply the Swiss and German armies, but it's not clear for how long that would be, and whether it means pellet mfr stays in the same place as a side effect of keeping the "real ammo" factories there. It may be uneconomical to move their pellet equipment to China anyway, especially if they are already paying the people that maintain it.

I looked at some brand new RWS pellets I have and they seem absolutely bang on, as ever.

Still going to do that pellet test at some point, though. Why not

That's to bad, I really like Superdomes and Hobbies and the R10 match pellets. I may buy a few tins just to have some on hand. Hopefully they just move manufacturing to Eastern Europe and not China.

It went through in July 2022, it's March 2025 now and nothing has seemingly changed, if they had immediate plans to move production, they are taking a long time to announce them.

So which bit of my post is wrong?
I never said when they bought RWS, I just said that I recently learned of it and the rumoured move of pellet manufacture.

I thought Norma owned RWS or was it the other way round? & while on the subject are RWS superfield the same pellet as the Norma gold ft?

It's okay, I'm getting used to the forum now - whatever anyone posts there's usually someone desperate to prove them wrong ๐Ÿ˜‚
Have a great weekend โ˜บ๏ธ
It wasn' t my intent to " prove anyone wrong"...merely presenting a factual timeframe of Beretta Holdings purchase/ takeover of RUAG Ammotech ( RWS/ GECO, et al) so no one got unduly worried over outsourcing & RWS pellet quality - that's all, pal.๐Ÿ˜Š
Enjoy your weekend as well๐Ÿ‘.

My favourite pellet is the Superpoints, yep poorly made and not accurate, just nostalgia for me I love the old blue lid tin, the dark lead flimsy skirted pellet, I donโ€™t care if I hit anything with them.

Lots of shops are out of stock in .22 , and the old blue lid is gone now I think.

Chiefy
