some of the RTK ones can, i nearly went for the Stiga for that reason, but most people i spoke to said that after an hour or 2 you can't see any lines on the lawn with the others as they only cut a few mm off the top of the lawn. :) :)

Blimey

love it - now that's what i call a lawn!
Thanks, we had a spot the rabbits loved and I couldn’t quite shoot them at, the mower seems to scare them off too, you can’t use the app to turn the headlights on and off, my girlfriend loves watching it, we called it Hectere/ Hector.

My neighbour has one. It worked well until it had a software glitch. Needed a complete reprogramming which cost almost as much as the machine. Before opening your wallet make sure there is a decent back up service. Also beware any changes to the mowing area might need a company engineer to reprogramme it.

However - they do cut very evenly as long as the ground is level. I'm not sure it would cope with my paddock!

I have had one for 2 years, a Husqvarna. It does a great job. I went to a reputable local dealer who did a site visit and recommended what I needed. He also installed it. I have had no problems and it relieves me of the tedium of cutting a big bit of grass when I have better things to do. One outcome which I didn't expect is that the quality of my grass is much better. Frequent cutting of just a little bit does wonders for it when the cuttings are left to mulch.

You can't just ignore it, of course. I give the grass its first cut in the spring and you need to remove sticks that fall or get blown on, but there's not a lot to do. It's one of my best buys.

6 year warantee with the Ambrogio. :) :)

Did you ever get one @hants? I was at my lawnmower dealer yesterday buying some Aspen 4 and they had 2 wizzing around outside which reminded me of this thread.

picked up an Ambrogio 29 Elite and it's all ready to go including it's garage but we've had to postpone the cable burying/installing man as every day we've booked him it's absolutely hammered down! Homer face palm :( He's now rebooked for next friday and we are really hoping the rain holds off next week so we can get it done. All ready to go though, it's currently indoors in it's charging station getting ready to be put into action and the 'garage' is all painted up - can't wait! Brilliant garage @hants, bet you can’t wait. I can imagine your frustration. I’d be logging some if those branches for next year’s fire but you’re right, a chipper is needed and not a B&Q one. I’m interested to hear how it performs once out of the pits and off the starting grid (as I suspect others are too).

I'll try to do a video of a before and after, we've got top dressing going down at the beginning of May and scarifying on the 26th April so i'll try to get it done before then if i can. :) :)

Well we had to wait a bit to allow cable to be laid due to the weather then it clashed with having the lawn scarified but finally - it's now running! Dancing bananaDancing bananaDancing banana

Should of got one ages ago - really happy with it so far. Been running about 6 days and half of those days it was raining. Ignore the bit half way down on the right, that is an area we are clearing for a bed. I had expected to have to run around the edges with a small mower occasionally but looking at it i don't think i'll need to, seems to cut right in to the edge. Haven't had to rescue it yet, just seems to potter around and hasn't missed any areas as yet - and great news - no clippings visible at all. Happy days! :):)

Thanks for the update @hants, really pleased it’s working out well. I think we have one more house move in front of us, a lawn flat and large enough (or no lawn at all) is high on the ‘desirables’ list so I can indulge myself. Grateful if you report back at the end of the growing season.

Bit of an update after a full summer of use. Been really happy with it, lawn seems greener all round, i guess because the clippings have effectively been feeding the lawn. Literally strimmed the edges twice since it was installed and that's been about the sum of my involvement in mowing the lawn since the end of April - happy days! Now if you just affix a target stand to it you have a moving target :D

But it looks like it saves a fair amount of work.
