Chinese manufacturing and quality control is getting better year on year. Rather than turn out fake Leupolds, expect in the coming decade, superior own brand products, as they have already been doing with QYS pellets.
They are already here in reality. A lot of major brands are made in China under licence but the same factories copy the designs and bang their own version out. They are relentless, they have no scruples for doing so and no world organisation seems to be able to stop them either. I have a ham radio licence and it happens with ham radio gear. They copy anything they can get their hands on but if we did it in this country we'll get jailed.Forget its a fake, it will be fine on your mmc I can't see it been made to a pants standard and possibly made in the smae factory as the smk scopes and other scopes thats a no name brand that see to work fine for a plinking gun or on the rats just try not to nock it about
for the price you could have got worse like
Just for the hell of it get it checked out . Some Leupolds are made in China . There is just the slightest of slight chance you have the real thing .They've gone to a lot of trouble for a fake ....but guess it's got to go through customs without being seized if it is a fake.
Warranty card and lifetime guarantee, owners handbook and car window sticker....View attachment 120713View attachment 120714
Wrong...a selection of Leupy low end binoculars are Chinese, no scopes though. Leupold serial #s are engraved on bottom of turret saddle, not laser printed where visible.Just for the hell of it get it checked out . Some Leupolds are made i China . There is just the slightest of slight chance you have the real thing .
Where did you find that?Just for the hell of it get it checked out . Some Leupolds are made i China . There is just the slightest of slight chance you have the real thing .

A legit 1.5 - 5x will set you back in the neighborhood of $300.This serial number is definitely printed (see pic below) not etched unfortunately.
I don't know how much a real one would cost but guess a lot more than £40

We’ve been making world-class optics that bear our family name for over 100 years. We honor that legacy every day as we design, machine and assemble…www.leupold.com
100% fake , for one it’s coming from China. Two price is obvious give away. If it’s too good to be true…..
Technically that photo shows laser engraving - you can clearly see the horizontal lines where the carriage has run horizontally to engrave the serial, this is generally going to produce a very different result to mechanical engraving as shown in the photo of a genuine scope as it’s generally a single tool path. Most modern serial numbers are now laser engraved, as are things like QR codes because it’s quick, accurate and easy to advance numbers/letters.This serial number is definitely printed (see pic below) not etched unfortunately.

The VX freedom lenses are made in China but the rest of the actual scope is made and assembled in the U.S, no other Leupold scope it's lenses are made in China.Just for the hell of it get it checked out . Possible. All cheap Chinese scopes will probably be made at same factory (probably 100’s of them thinking about it). They can sue genuine pics, send what ever , they don’t have or follow our copy right laws. It’s a free for all. I’ve long give up ordering crap from ali etc. a lot of stuff (batteries, flashlights , chargers ) are out right dangerous .Thing is it wasn't even advertised as a Leupold, just a generic no brand 1-5x20.
So crafty way of dumping stock they wouldn't be able to sell
You have to appreciate the irony, my ‘budget’ Vector Optics Taurus uses imported German coated glass on a scope made in China. I have often wondered what’s stopping China using domestic glass/coating processes as it’s clearly got the capability to produce top quality glass, but I guess the perceived quality and premium that can be charged outweighs the cost difference at this stage. The VX freedom lenses are made in China but the rest of the actual scope is made and assembled in the U.S, no other Leupold scope it's lenses are made in China.
China can make anything you want to any quality you specify, that's what Leupold have clearly done with the VX Freedom lenses, in exchange they get it at a price nobody elsewhere can match, and the consumer gets to buy their bottom end glass for a few more years with no price rise or change in quality. You have to appreciate the irony, my ‘budget’ Vector Optics Taurus uses imported German coated glass on a scope made in China.
