Result ? Leupold scope

Forget its a fake, it will be fine on your mmc I can't see it been made to a pants standard and possibly made in the smae factory as the smk scopes and other scopes thats a no name brand that see to work fine for a plinking gun or on the rats just try not to nock it about

for the price you could have got worse like
They are already here in reality. A lot of major brands are made in China under licence but the same factories copy the designs and bang their own version out. They are relentless, they have no scruples for doing so and no world organisation seems to be able to stop them either. I have a ham radio licence and it happens with ham radio gear. They copy anything they can get their hands on but if we did it in this country we'll get jailed.

They've gone to a lot of trouble for a fake ....but guess it's got to go through customs without being seized if it is a fake.

Warranty card and lifetime guarantee, owners handbook and car window sticker....View attachment 120713View attachment 120714
Just for the hell of it get it checked out . Some Leupolds are made in China . There is just the slightest of slight chance you have the real thing .

Wrong...a selection of Leupy low end binoculars are Chinese, no scopes though. Leupold serial #s are engraved on bottom of turret saddle, not laser printed where visible.

Where did you find that?

Leupolds website says all Leupolds are made in their Oregon factory...

Serial # on a legit Leupold( M8 3x) & VX1 3x9x40...

Google search it mate. See what it brings up .

100% fake , for one it’s coming from China. Two price is obvious give away. If it’s too good to be true…..

Thing is it wasn't even advertised as a Leupold, just a generic no brand 1-5x20.

So crafty way of dumping stock they wouldn't be able to sell

This serial number is definitely printed (see pic below) not etched unfortunately.

I don't know how much a real one would cost but guess a lot more than £40
Technically that photo shows laser engraving - you can clearly see the horizontal lines where the carriage has run horizontally to engrave the serial, this is generally going to produce a very different result to mechanical engraving as shown in the photo of a genuine scope as it’s generally a single tool path. Most modern serial numbers are now laser engraved, as are things like QR codes because it’s quick, accurate and easy to advance numbers/letters.

Either way, the scope is clearly a fake, while it’s not an awful copy and some small amount of effort has been put into dressing it up so it’s less obvious, it’s still pretty obvious. Sadly China makes a lot of good quality scopes for many brands, but it also makes some real dross and they are happy to stick whatever you want on it as long as they are paid up front.

The VX freedom lenses are made in China but the rest of the actual scope is made and assembled in the U.S, no other Leupold scope it's lenses are made in China.

Possible. All cheap Chinese scopes will probably be made at same factory (probably 100’s of them thinking about it). They can sue genuine pics, send what ever , they don’t have or follow our copy right laws. It’s a free for all. I’ve long give up ordering crap from ali etc. a lot of stuff (batteries, flashlights , chargers ) are out right dangerous .
Not saying there are not the odd decent shop who do stock genuine products( lot of stuff comes from there anyway). But these days I would rather spend more and have easier returns and back up.

Either way if it works and seems decent bang for buck, happy days👍🏻

The modern Leupolds are printed, have a letter in the serial no, also the have a QR code.
VX Freedom & VX3 respectively

You have to appreciate the irony, my ‘budget’ Vector Optics Taurus uses imported German coated glass on a scope made in China. I have often wondered what’s stopping China using domestic glass/coating processes as it’s clearly got the capability to produce top quality glass, but I guess the perceived quality and premium that can be charged outweighs the cost difference at this stage.

True @ven

Thing with buying on eBay is any Chinese vendor has to adhere to counterfeit and fake policy, regardless that China Law doesn't really recognise copyright or they get thrown off.

Should imagine Amazon the same.

China can make anything you want to any quality you specify, that's what Leupold have clearly done with the VX Freedom lenses, in exchange they get it at a price nobody elsewhere can match, and the consumer gets to buy their bottom end glass for a few more years with no price rise or change in quality.

China for its own wears prefers to knock out cheap stuff en mass, saving time and cost.
When it breaks you throw it out and say "oh well, it was Chinese"!
Scopes are a very subjective thing and for the money the two that stand out for me are the old Optisan EVX/E and the Bushnell Legend, so China can make good stuff but different people have different standards.

Hi all
not been on here for months

I had a 3.5-10×40 cheap leupold from China paid about £36 a couple of years ago...mil dot ret...had it on a hw80 for a few months and tbh I couldn't knock it...held zero perfectly wasn't crystal but was clear.. Came with box and leupold booklet...and cheap rubber bikini covers.
Sold it on AGF1 to someone looking to set up a cheap outfit for his nephew...probably got a few pictures I could post ...I'll have a look.
