Replacement carburetor for a stihl strimmer/brushcutter

Hi used a cheap Chinese one on my ryobi strimmer with no problems, the problem turn out to be the fuel gumming up the carb if left for a month or more due to the ethanol, even in super unleaded now. Now remove the ethanol from fuel before using plenty of videos on YouTube showing how to do it.

Thanks I am now planing on using Aspen 2 in it I know its expensive but it lasts and the strimmer and chainsaw I have don't use a lot of fuel. I will take a look at youtube.
 
Yeah, there ok, but if your having problems with machine bogging down when you rev, strip the old carb, prise out gently the little fine wire mesh filter, give it a clean with brake fluid cleaner, they get bunged up with fuel, like a glaze, you can't see it with out magnification, but it stops the full fuel flow, ticks over or right, but when you press the excellerator trigger, it cuts out.

Had this problem happening for years, bought new carbs, still happened after a while, cheap fuel with this methanol additive does not help, I only use the dear stuff, less meth, and cleaning additives too, sometimes the dearest is the cheapest.
 
I think I stripped it and did a rebuild some time ago, maybe I ordered the kit and never did the rebuild I will have a search arround and see if I can find the bits, but I will try the new carb first.

It looks ok in situ, but you can't see the glazing blocking it ?.

Can't remember now but I will look into it, I may as well take the carb off and take a look at it before the new one arrives.

It's a tiny metallic mesh, no wider then the width of a pencil, use a pin, be gentle, it damages easy, same with putting it back in, also watch blasting it with aerosol brake cleaner, it can blast it so hard it disappears into space ?.
 
As others have said, it pays to do some maintenance on these carbs. The diaphragm is usually an item which requires replacement if the engine has not been run for a while.
They are very simple to work on.

I bought a cheap carb to replace one which had worn out on one of my model aeroplanes. . It had worn so much, there was air leaking past the butterflies and spindles. Homer face palm
The cheapy replacement carb has been working perfectly for the last three years. (y)
 
The cheap carbs tend to last a season then need replacing. You soon get fed up with them.
 
I bought a cheapo Chinese carb with gas conversion for a generator, it runs better on petrol than it did on the original and hasn't given any problems.
 
I would say clean it out put a new cab kit in, it’s a Stihl, I have a husqvarna that is over 40 years old had some cab kits and other bits, but not a replacement cab, try giving it a good clean new kit and wire filter, good luck.
 
ASPEN 2(stroke) has had a mention, I swear by the stuff. The moment I started using it my starting problems stopped. My strimmer and blower would go months between uses but with this fuel (well worth the premium price) any starting issues I would have had in the past have remained in the past. Clearly no good if your carb is knackered but worthy of serious consideration once everything else is tip-top. It can be bought in 1 or 5 ltr containers and ASPEN 4 is available for your lawn mower.

Yes my friend picked me a gallon of it up on his way to see me yesterday.
 
I fitted a cheap chinese knock off carb to my Honda ride on a couple of years ago when I was pushed for time and it was the quicker option and it's been fine so far.
I'll have to get the old one cleaned and sorted properly know 'cos that will have put the moccas on it and it will break down. :unsure:
 
I have a Makita EA32015 chainsaw which has a bog down problem, tried a carb service kit (Walbro WTE13) problem still persists,
ASPEN 2 stroke sounds interesting, is it a fuel additive cleaner, lubricant, ready mix fuel?
