Has anyone using a Rekon Tripod experienced an issue with the pig saddle gents. The jaws of the saddle have started to rattle a bit, particularly annoying when walking with them before deploying. Any experience or clues as to why. Cheers

I used one with a Carbon Fibre stock and it crushed it and brought the finish on the underside of the stock off. Double check everything is nipped up tight.

I’ve had mine from new a good few years now and I’ve never had that happen, I’ve had a.l sorts of stocks fastened up in it. it’s just the rattle I’m asking about and if anyone has experienced that rattle and knows what causes it.

Ah I see what you mean now matey, nipped up tight. No it’s fine and doesn’t rattle when holding the rifle it’s whilst walking with the tripod to say a shooting position the jaws move slightly back and forth and rattle, there is no adjustment that you can make to tighten them until fastening to a rifle.

I noticed the same thing. It's a bit irritating but the tripod is such a good piece of kit overall, I thought I'd ignore it. It now has a permanently available thick rubber band on it which I simply place over the jaws when preparing to move. No big deal for me but if you find a better solution, I'll gladly switch to that.

Not good that you too have the same issue matey but glad I’m not doing something wrong, I can’t see any adjustments that can be made in order to tighten things up when not holding rifle….bloody nuisance when trying to walk in on a fox. Must be a common issue?

If the jaws are in the right position ie you can see between them looking from above they don’t make as much noise, but if they are the other way Christ it’s like carrying a tambourine. So….that fix sounds like an easy cheap fix, I’ll have to try it. Cheers buddy and thanks for replying much appreciated.

Is this the same as the Hog Saddle? The only thing I can see as a possible fault is the spring losing tension. Can you post a couple of photos of the rattle position and non rattle?

Hi mate it rattles in both holding positions/ carrying but…..it’s less of a problem carrying it like this below

When looking down at the jaws whilst carrying if it’s in this position it’s awful…

The momentum of walking makes the jaws move more so in the position above.

The jaw that moves in and out is the culprit….it wobbles in all axis.

It has to be spring tension or wear on the screw thread, male or female. How far Up North are you from Crewe?

I removed the spring and stretched it a bit but it’s still the same….im 40 mile north of you buddy. It’s not just the jaw moving backwards and forwards a few mm which causes the noise it’s an up and down movement too….mm’s of course but metal on metal at 3am is a kicker.

Fox still gets the sting when using it it’s just the transporting it to a standing position. It doesn’t make any noise once set up and in action.

Try taking the slide out and putting insulation tape on the edge of the rail, then put it back together. If that works, it's simply a case of having a couple of blobs of mig weld on each end, then filing down to a snug fit. In fact, I'd bet there were plastic shims in there that have worn out.

I had the same problem so I switch to a support bag instead it took a bit of getting use to but now I find now that I'm alot quicker getting into the aim and just as stable

i just attached an arca rail to one of my prs bags and practiced (alot)

I sent mine back and got a refund, it did nothing but rattle and jam up, I thought I had got a friday night special, and purchased a set of quad sticks instead with a fifth leg, just as good, quiet and a quarter of the weight

But the rekon are a excellent shooting tool, without a doubt I did like it but not the noise and the weight

So there is definitely a common issue with the pig saddle, it’s not just me. I wonder if it the type of saddle. The Hog and the VM-1 may be better? Thanks gents for replying.
