Reason to change calibre.?

Not owned a .22 rifle in years, mainly because I now only shoot shorter distances and open sights/bell target.

But shot a .22 TX the other day and it was a lot more smoother than the .177 stuff.

So now I'm thinking do I actually need just 1 rifle in .22 for that smoother experience.

Got a boat load of .177 ammo here, and the thought of having to find a new guns favourite ammo and stocking up on the dearer .22 pellets is a little glitch that is putting me off.

Scratch that needs itching..?

Much prefer .22 in springers, easier to load, less drama on firing. If you do your homework you can narrow down to a handful of brands. Even ask for someone to make up some sample packs.

If you buy used off here the previous owner will be able to provide that information and possibly even some pellets with the gun.
In any case you will probably be safe enough starting with H&N or JSB in 5.52mm rather than the whole available range.

My .22 TX200H runs so well on 16gn Hades AA Fields and Crosman 14.3 Accupells.
That i have not bothered with anything else as it shoots as good as i can with these.
I have done the FT course with the Hades and fields..not much in it.

My past few guns have been .177.
I'm going .22 again.

.177 makes more sense, but my monkey brain "like big lead because big lead is bigger than small lead".

Unless you hunt .20 is pointless, though there is more than enough pellet choice for that, everyone seems to say the readily available pellets just work well.

If you only shoot short range, I can’t see any point in .177 as the trajectory difference only comes into play beyond 30 yards, and any springer will be nicer to shoot in .22 all things being equal.
