Rarest Theoben Models..

Agreed, and that's what surprised about Paul's post, i'm amazed that Theoben actually made a rifle solely for the use of these.
Every day's a school day.

It was stamped Prometheus on the breech block , I have seen pictures but can't find them now. On a US forum . Also Jon Budd on the bbs has a barrel from one.

IIRC the heads of the Titan Black were lead and the Prometheus steel, is that correct?
Prometheus were steel then zinc alloy . Not sure about Titans.

Apparently when they were still steel they were more accurate that the zinc alloy.

The were made by a company that made rivets and then sold by Milbro in a kit of tips and skirts .

Great nostalgic ad’s! I always thought Prometheus pellets were something to do with Pax Guns in North London.

I think Hugh Earl of Pax came later in their production but I might be wrong. I did see a history thread but cant find it now.

Pax is no longer trading so you cant look on their website.

Edit. thread ere stating Hugh Earl created them . Milbro may have been the dealer for them and Pax then did them themselves.

Indeed mate. This is fascinating.
There is of course the possibility that Theoben were offering unchoked barrels anyway and someone saw a marketing opportunity for both parties. ie Whilst many air rifles prefer a particular pellet, I've never heard of one being built specifically for a certain projectile. A deep google shows no accuracy tests.

Did theoben do one? I know Sterling Armaments was doing one , another Graham Trim rifle that never reached the market .
Yes. Just a single one. Twin gas rams coming together like a Park or Whiscombe. I believe they shared air pressure through some kind of equaliser tube and this kept the pistons timed together. Although I might be wrong. There isn't much information about it

I do seem to recall hearing something about it now you mention them sharing air pressure I wonder if that was the graham trim one though or he copied it .

I'm sorry to hear that. I enjoyed visiting.

Ahh Stirling Armaments.. I got very excited about some of those ideas!

Theoben prometheus may be one.

Designed for using Prometheus pellets. Unchoked barrel.

From another forum.

The Prometheus is a Scirocco Classic with unchoked barrel purposely made for use with Prometheus Paragon pellets. I've heard the rifling in the barrel is different but can't confirm this. The twist certainly looks different looking through the barrel.

If you're unfamiliar with Paragon pellets they were sold in self-assembly packs. Plastic bodies with zinc heads you'd ruin your thumbs pushing together 500 at a time. Tended to leaves strands of plastic in the barrel.

The barrel is stamped UC for unchoked.

From Trev's scrapbook.

The Graham trim one was linked with a bowden Cable. I had a look at it at the British shooting show. The rounded black part under the barrel at the front of the action was covering a pulley IIRC

Were they a factory built gun? I always thought they were a gun put together by Tawnado Airguns...
Think they were a Gary Cane designed /made stock .Blocks were marked as Vanquish as well.
Probably available from Tawns but don’t think they were commissioned by him ?

Note the use of think a lot ! Don’t know for certain .

One Theoben rapid I never got to own was a very limited version called an EBR or EBM if I recall properly, was a few years ago now and a fella called Mick on the rapid forum managed to track one down.

Ive had virtually all other rapids and must say my favourite is the MFR closely followed by the Anshutz
