I see a few offerings from temu/ali express for around £50 but this seems too good and possible alu body.

Whats the best quality middle ground QCTP ?
Wedge style...
Its for a 250 lathe.

Mine is one of the generic qctp from Ebay albeit a couple of years ago and for about 40 quid with four tool holders and it is made of steel throughout. They are all much of a muchness . I got the 250 000 and 001 ect holders for my mx210v 8"x16" lathe , the lock up on it has behaved flawlessly. Not much to go wrong on them really but I've found it to be well worth the money changing from the 4 way tp that i needed to shim to this.

Whats 250 the swing? 10"
A chinese 250/200 series but get the tool holders from same place. As have bought labelled 250/202 etc several times over and way too small.
Only got 51 tool posts all ready to use.

I find them big and blocky. And often get in the way on a light lathe making small parts. Particularly when working near the center. A lot of overhang required.
Not to mention the fact they require your light duty compound to absorb so much twisting action due to the fact the bit ends up off to the side so far.
Some say the lantern tool posts aren’t rigid enough.
Here we are taking .100 in cold rolled steel. The load goes straight down through the compound to the saddle. Not so much twisting on the small dovetails of the compound slide
I did get a small quick change for this lathe but don’t like it. I am experienced and can still switch tooling in good time. I’m not running a production business. Same bit turns and faces, just loosen the bolt and swing a few degrees. This light machine can’t take advantage of using carbide. Only HSS used. For a superior finish

I just use a generic one, tried the small alloy jobs, but they are just no rigid enough, these seem OK and adding more toolholders is cheap enough.

I think I got mine from ebay and it has been excellent. I have also 'invested' in quite a few tool holders which does add to the cost but even so they were cheap enough so that I didn't consider making them. Mine is all steel but some for the small lathes are aluminium which I would avoid.
I did have to change the bolt fixing the toolpost to the slide but that was a simple job and only has to be done once.

Owner here of a Seig SC8 lathe which I've been searching out some QC additions for, oh dear nothing seems to fit!
The problem is the SC8 top slide block which accepts the makers tool block only, usual square 4 bit with indexing and requires a match. The other problem is the SC8 has been discontinued and its specific accessories are no longer available. To fit a generic style QC changer requires something like an adaptor plate, top slide block to QC attachment. If only there could be some standardisation in this crazy set up life would be some much easier!

Got a cheap one from eBay on my old Myford, been using it for four or five years now, works a treat.
It's all Steel.

When the British had a machine tool industry, the Myford / Boxford etc, great to see them still going!
Note the picture above does not show a top slide so the QC block is mounted on the cross slide plate, special adaptor plate?

The oxa 250-101 is what i had in my basket but searching around...seems this is for the 210 lathe.
Ive found the bigger brother axa 250-111 with 5 holders for £137 so think im gonna just grab that and use some 12mm tooling.
Will add few more holders also 👍
Thank you kindly...

Yes mate, the adapter plate was chopped out of a chunk of cast iron, I've got the top slide, but I only Mount it when I need it👍
