Pulsar Digex C50

You would plug the scope into your pc using the charge cable and add the firmware manually. Likewise to get the video files off the scope you would take them off the same way your accessing the scopes memory card directly. It is far easier with WiFi and the app you can take the video of directly to your phone and update firmware directy to scope.
Hope this helps

Ah ok, not interested in pics and video mind, but thought if it ever needed an update on the firmware it would be good to have access to it, so if it’s still doable without the Wi-Fi model then that’s good to hear…cheers

That’s not correct, you can’t install updates through a PC, Thomas Jacks told me if there was a critical update required it would have to be done by them.
Having said that there’s only been one update just after it’s release, that was for a charging issue there’s not been any other problems since.

You know Chris I read this was the case yesterday but thought I must have interpreted it incorrectly when I read the post in this thread to my question…ah well. Thanks for the clarification Matey

Sorry for the wrong information I'm gob smacked that you can only update the firmware through the app. Why even sell the non WiFi version firmware updates are part of modern tech they can fix issues simply but not if you got to bo it back up to thomas jacks for updates I'm totally gobsmacked that your buying a 1000 quid scope and you have to return it to factory for a FIRMWARE UPDATE they did not tell me that when they (Thomas Jacks)tried to sell me the non WiFi version at Yorkshire shooting show. So glad now I bought Alpex.
Sorry again for miss info

Pulsar won’t roll out updates for the scopes because they don’t need constant tweaks, not like the Pards where they sprung onto the scene before extensive testing and the updates were work in progress. This is just another step up from the list of Pulsar NV, they will have ironed out a lot the glitches in the previous Digex 450, the C50 has been out for over 7 months and proved it doesn’t need any updates, if something crops up you have the comfort of knowing you have a U.K. based distributor to sort it.

Don’t forget there’s a lot of folk that aren’t interested in WiFi etc, they just want to turn it on and shoot so giving the option of a base model saves them a few quid, just the same as offering the non IR version, the WiFi version will be available again soon enough if you want the bells and whistles.

So why include the update in the App if your never gunna need it no device out there are perfect and Firmware is not there just to fix issues its there to improve the product down the line with new features. Then I guess pulsar would probably sooner sell you a C51 next year with the added features another 1000 quid

Hey, don’t shoot the messenger!
You seem to be getting your knickers in a twist and making a big issue out of nothing, how do you know that Pulsar are even thinking about new features for the scope? It’s not a given and they could be quite happy with its performance and not consider any more time on development. After nearly 8 months it’s clear the C50 has no issues or glitches with the current firmware so an update isn't needed. BTW I’ve owned 2 different Pulsar thermals that have never had updates released.

I’m sure you have to connect to Pulsar’s app anyway?

Hi Ian is there a downside to the none Wi-Fi version….I was thinking about firmware updates. If it’s not the Wi-Fi version how would any critical update be carried out. Or is it that updates are unlikely if they’ve made them without Wi-Fi? @Blackwood Outdoors
Unlikely to be required . They work just fine and images are download via the USB C connector and cable . That is unless they do a hardwire update if needed , they did this in the past on an Axion key model .

Thanks for the reply Ian…..So the none wife model can still take pics and video Ian? And can be downloaded via cable?
