Pulsar Axion Key XM30 Thermal Imaging Monocular

My first spotter, which I still have, was the XM22, the cheaper version of the XM30. It works very well, I couldn't really say the range but in the open it's hundreds of yards. Obviously it's out-performed by more expensive units but still very usable. I had a Helion as well which was better but the XM22's winning card is it's small size, fits in your pocket.

I had one. more than enough for air rifle quarry at air rifle ranges. reasonably priced and good battery life.

i've found that the better expensive models just give you a wider field of view and more clarity to identify. like, I have a hikmicro LE10 now, it's a basic model. my friend has a £2500 50mm fancy thing. we can both see the same rabbits, however his thermal has a wider field of view and the rabbit is much clearer. The difference drops though with range and size of the quarry.

but both thermals can equally tell me - in that direction at roughly 100 yards there is a rabbit, and it's infront of x backstop or not x backstop, hedge, tree etc. it gives you a general idea.

If safe to do so, I then confirm range and exact target identity using the night vision optic on the rifle.

If you can afford it, get a nicer thermal, but it's really not a deal breaker if you go for a cheaper one.

It's a big area I shoot but if I can walk and spot them say 100 to 150 yards away then I have a hikmicro alpex 4k lite lrf coupled with a Pbirx torch for shots

Yeah that’s what I do. Xm30 is more than good enough for that.

Just a reminder if your moving your rifle about to find and range targets etc to be extra careful about where you’re pointing it and what you’re potentially Flagging. And double check your backstop once you have the shot set up using your NV. I always keep this in mind, it’s never a bad thing to be too cautious.

Depends on how much the xm30 is really! Maybe a couple hundred quid more for a nocpix p13 new would be a better option!
