Prometheus???

Evening all. Just been going thru a couple of ‘goody bags’ I picked up this evening and among the bits and bobs found these. The only make I recall from my relatively limited and short term experience ( compared to many here ) of airgunning is Prometheus, but can’t see any the same after a quick google, so thought I’d be lazy and defer to the greater knowledge that is AGF and ask the seasoned collective for its opinion please……

Those are the later type . ie the open cup skirt. the earlier ones had a full cup sealed skirt . Those shot from a FAC rifle they had a habit of blowing the head out of the skirt . leaving the plastic bit in the barrel .
Just saying 🙂👍

About 3 months ago I introduced my mate to the local gun club; he had one or two perms at local farms but hadn't done the targets for years. Whilst he was sorting through all his years of kit he came across a pack of these and gave them to me to try out (funny that, I thought he was a friend of mine). Anyway, down the range at 25m using my HW100. The first one was just on the target to the right so I did the 'holdsideways' and aimed just on the target to the left. It went further left and hit the holder. Similar shots followed and after 7 or 8 I took out the sharp piece of wood I normally use for sticking into my eyes if I'm caught in the same room as an episode of Coronation St and pinged the pellets back out into a nearby bin - along with the pack. That's my experience of Prometheus (other then the 'Alien' prequel a few years ago).

aye they were poop...mind you they would shoot through a bin (IF you could hit it)
different shapes, they did one called the parragon i think, green domed, got some and the sabos.

Ahh the N.A.T.O bullet I've still got a a box and half of these my self 🙃

Hugh Earl of Pax was involved with them.

The original ones had a polished Steel Head - clear plastic skirt in .22 then the .177 had black plastic skirt.
Zinc heads came later when Hugh Earl of Pax airguns got involved.

There was Titan Black ones also.

I remember these literally going around trees that we had targets pinned to. Probably the worst pellets ever, along with the Titan Black too

you didn't need an FAC rifle for that to happen!! I removed a fair few polymer skirts from the breech of my springer as a kid :ROFLMAO: "double" projectiles leaving the barrel was also fairly common!

We all rushed out to buy them in the 80's, slightly better penetration on thick tin cans, remember those. But really poor accuracy so it was a one off purchase and they were the same price for a 100 as a tin of 500 pellets.

Used some in a HW80. Hit the target ( steel drum which it ripped a hole in ) but it was 6 inches from the dot I was aiming at
. 30 yards from my shooting point.

A friend used them in his FWB 124 or 127 on rabbits . Seemed to work for him.

Theoben made a rifle for them. It UC on the barrel .

From another forum.

The Prometheus is a Scirocco Classic with unchoked barrel purposely made for use with Prometheus Paragon pellets. I've heard the rifling in the barrel is different but can't confirm this. The twist certainly looks different looking through the barrel.
