We all know the price of air rifles is out of control .
But what makes me laugh is I’m looking for a HW100 in .177 .
People are advertising them for £1000 plus at the moment . A lot at £1200 .
I know you can’t buy them new now , but at £1200 I would spend £100 more and buy a new x model.
And they were only £650 pre covid. So if you are buying an older gun . The gun has nearly doubled its purchase price !

I've got a HW100S that I'm 50:50 about selling at some point. The stock was broken but professionally repaired and has been faultless since (bipod and sling used so would have tested the join)

I'd put £600 as my bottom line incl. 3 original mags, original SSL, one aftermarket metal mag, mod, degasser, reg removal tools & two 3D printed mag cases.

Never hurts to dream though 🤣

Yes, the prices of both new and second hand are some times ridiculous!
Money is going to become very tight with what is going on in the world right now. People will be cutting back on their spending on hobbies for sure and probably a lot of other stuff too.

It’s already happening. I’ve been trying to sell this one owner low mileage convertible Skoda for yonks and still no buyers

You see it loads, and it has been going on for yonks as Air Rifle prices have been rising far too quickly for at least a decade.
So many advertise a well used but working 10yo rifle at a percentage of the current RRP which is more than it cost new. Sadly I suspect it is newcomers to the sport who are most likely to overpay.
I however am far too clever (Tight!) to buy in to it lol

New prices have gone daft, but unless someone is giving up or really doesn't want it anymore the price where they might as well just keep it has gone up.

Otherwise we're all going to sound like "back in my day" Grandads

There have been some mad price increases recently. And the prices on gunstar/Guntrader are just a piss take.
Regularly see used guns at more than new RFD prices

A rifle is worth what someone is willing to pay...I just saw that a first model, 1960s Steyr Zephyr Mannlicher .22 L.R. recently sold for north of $2400 ...ask & ye may receive.

But that is across the pond, and a firearm, so bears little relation to the UK secondhand airgun market.
My premise still holds - a rifle, any rifle, is worth exactly what someone is willing to pay for it, be it air or powder, U.S. or U.K. . This holds true for all goods; witness bidding wars at Sothebys or e - bay.

If you come to sell your house will you be basing the price on your original purchase price or current market prices?
