I’ve finally got a replacement scope on the way to go on my gas rammed BSA Polaris.

I wear verifocal glasses (Hoya lenses) with 2.0 for reading at the bottom, 1.25 for computer use and 1.0 in the upper third with a very slight correction for my right eye.

My question to other glasses wearers is would you wear them to use a scope if 95% of the corrections are for reading and screen use due to my being almost 60 years old?

Ah, I just had a second question drop into my head. Do you use the diopter ring on the scope to bring the reticle into focus and then use the parallax adjuster to bring the scene into focus?

Thanks in advance.

You're last question is bang on.

I wear glasses for reading and don't need to wear them while using a scope. As you say the diopter lens is for focusing the reticle to suit whether you are long or short sighted.

You then use the focus ring, either side or AO, to bring the target into focus and eliminate any parallax issues.

So you shouldn't need to wear your glasses while using your scope.

I wear glasses, varifocals and only ever wear them for clays. No glasses for looking through a scope, just adjust the diopter to suit your vision and take it from there.

I wear glasses for distance vision.
As I shoot with both eyes open, I keep my glasses on when looking through a scope.
It doesn't cause any problems.
The corrected vision means the scope's diopter settings are at zero.

Dioptre compensation on a scope is limited, and if your long distance vision is poor you still need your glasses.
I've never understood secondary things like Astigmatism, but my specs are corrected for this. I tried a pair of reading specs, and tho the dioptres were correct, thee was still a fuzz, that I didn't get with my optician dispensed specs.

My long distance vision is very good.
