I saw this specification on AliExpress which is ideal for me but there is a warning on there regarding the seller so I decided to give it more thought.

Specification
Total knife length: 21.2CM
Blade length: 9.9CM
Blade width: 3.3CM
Blade thickness: 4.6MM
Blade material: D2
Handle material: G10
Handle length: 11.3CM
Handle width: 2.7CM
Handle thickness: 16.8MM
Net weight: 279G
Sheath weight: 365G
Total weight including packing knife sheath: G
Sheath: Kydex

Many thanks all. Matt.

D2 is not best at holding edge but nevertheless difficult to sharpen.
Not the best combination of qualities.

Yeah thanks. I just want a decent sheath knife not overly expensive that I can use when we're away in the caravan or working in the garden.

You can't go wrong with a genuine mora - they aren't expensive and last for years. I like the edris (the one with the normal sized handle but tony blade) perfect for jobs around the campsite

Second vote for mora, especially the companion, can get stainless, carbon or a thicker version if your going to give it some welly all under £20.

Mora, £20 max a nice bright colour. Easy to keep a edge.

If you fancy a custom job in a sheath take a look at Richie knankz knives. I have one of his a real thing of beauty and can get it crazy sharp. Again a "tool" just a fancy tool

The good thing about the Bahco wrecking chisel/knife is you can use a normal hammer of your choice on the spine.

By the way if you want a nicer sheath for a mora - have a peek on Etsy - loads to choose from

If you want something more bushcraft but don't want to break the bank also have a look at the TBS branded knives from the bushcraft store. I have been really impressed with the TBS boar - just about the right size

My recommendation would be from 2 companies namely BPS Knives or MoraKniv. I have several BPS Knives and in my opinion extremely good value with a carbon steel blade and beautiful leather sheaths. you could opt for a Mora knife again good value but these come with the plastic sheaths but I prefer the leather sheaths. D2 steel is fantastic in my opinion proper tool steel holds an excellent edge, easy to sharpen on diamond stones. The disadvantage however with carbon steel is it is prone to rusting really fast if you don't clean and oil the blade it will rust!! be warned. BPS knives come in both carbon and stainless steel you may be better off with a stainless steel blade just less chance of rusting but the trade off ........it's a hard steel and may take longer to sharpen but it is worth it to stop rust whilst you use it around the campsite. I have bought and used Knives from Ali Express and find them to be of good quality and workmanship for the price you pay but alas the knife snobs don't like them simply cos they are replicas of popular knives. Good luck with your search mate🍀. One love ❤️ Ali

Brilliant! Thank you very much gentlemen. Plenty for me to consider. Cheers. Matt

Mora companion or if you want something leather and wood the helle Harding is a nice knife to look at and to use .

Also if your on a low budget then check out the German brand wolfcraft knifes on Amazon for £7.50 delivered, they are very good value as I own a couple.
