Hunting Pellets in 177 for squirrels

Sorry for the generic answer mate but, any pellet that you can put in the right place on a target that small will work. When I was still hunting, I used AA Express and JSB Heavies from an HW100 and FAPs from a TX200hc. the lighter faster pellets gave me more confidence to pull the trigger on such a twitchy target 👍

We see this a lot, and TBH, the most accurate pellet which allows the best shot placement is the best one for the job. The further you go, the more accuracy you need, so if your on a feeder at under 20m, then you may find wadcutters are excellent, but the danger is that you get goaded into taking shots at 30/40m by those little buggers lurking in the trees which are basically just asking for it :ROFLMAO: As we know, pellets like wadcutters and many of the pointed or hollow point pellets are not so great at distance accuracy wise, so take some time, test at your max shooting distance, and although you can settle on a pellet which gives great groups but may not necessarily be "the" best pellet that day, don't think anything with the label "hunting" on the tin will give you much in the way of an advantage in real life ;)

My hw100kt at 20 to 30 yards is spot on with them pellets baracuda 8s are very accurate at all distance

in MY .177 s400 jsb exacts are the most accurate pellet, so i use them for everything ;)
i've had serious issues with my s400 .22 which i've only just sorted, so i'm testing pellets to find the most accurate in that at the moment (y)

Whats your pellet choice in 177 for squirrels in trying Bisley magnum and H&N Hunter extreme any recommendations welcome

Basically the most accurate one for your rifle, don’t get too hung up on expanding hunting pellets, most don’t expand that much but will loose accuracy more so than domes over distances

Out of the ones that I have seen the Bisley Pest Control seem to expand quite well - Matt Manning did an article on Airgun Extra recently showing the expansion on some pellets, they were in .22 but you’ll get the jist of it

Any pellet that shoots well & accurately in your rifle, out to your chosen hunting distances, is the correct pellet. " Hitting hard" or any other such descriptives are misnomers, "hitting precise"is where the money's at... ~ 4 ft.-.lbs. of retained energy at point of impact is all that's required when parked on a spot the size of your thumbnail... everything absorbed by the dirt( or tree bark) behind your quarry, post pass through, is wasted energy.

Squirrels have a fairly thin skull same as rats so accurate shot placement is crucial for a quick humane delivery .177/.22/.20 matters not
Just remember not to far , not too close find the mid range and practice, practice , practice
Cheers
Davey
