I didn't think it would make any difference, but it seems to work!! I decided to get my battered old Superstar out, it is ok with 5.5 pellets but inconsistent, I suppose I could weigh pellets which might improve things but I don't! Anyway, I had some lube and some very dodgy looking Marksman .22, so I decided to try it and it improved things no end, need to reset my scope but it is definitely more accurate and consistent. I haven't tried my old tin of Wasps but will at some point!
I was doubtful too, but at one of the ranges I attend, there is a few Comp shooters and one shoots for England. His Dad also shoots at the range, and I was having trouble grouping a pellet with a particular gun, he suggested some lube, (LT1) and offered me some of his, and then just put a tiny drop in my tin of pellets then rolled the tin around for a minute.
I proceeded to shoot some of the now lubed pellets through the same gun and the group size immediately halved! I was convinced....
He said his son and the other comp shooters all recommend the LT1 as its a"dry" lube so does not give a sticky coating like some other lubes and also does not line / foul the barrel. They use a very small drop and then roll the pellets around.
I could not get any LT1, as it seems to be out of stock everywhere, I think HW100tuning used to sell it, but I found a very similar product, which is a bike chain lube, also a dry based type lube, (Muc Off dry lube) and it seems to work ok on the few pellets I've tried.
I'm sure that sizing, washing and weighing pellets also works, otherwise why would comp shooters bother doing it? eg: gaining those small margins, etc, but that is so time consuming.
Whereas just adding a small drop of lube to a tin of pellets is fast and easy, so its something I'm prepared to do....
